“Great location, cozy room”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

My husband and I spent 4 days here at the start of our vacation to Spain. We couldn't have asked for a better location, as it's only a couple blocks from the metro, attractions, shopping, and the Placa de Catalunya. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly, and we enjoyed the view from the rooftop pool and bar for an evening cocktail. We did have an issue with water leaking from the bathroom ceiling, from precipitation build up from the AC, and they did offer us a room move. The hotel is trendy and contemporary; the downfall is the rooms are cozy, but what you come to expect for European standards. We didn't have the chance to enjoy breakfast in the hotel, but there's a great little cafe "Rendezvous" directly across the street. We definitely recommend the "Barcelona Bus Turistic" city bus tour which you can catch from just a couple blocks away.

I always use tripadvisor before i book a hotel but this is my first review.

I'm just going to keep it short.

Just returned after staying here with 2 other couples.
Rooms are modern but small, everything we needed. We had a balcony which was an added bonus.
Rooftop pool was small but nice, ordered food up there which was also nice.
Staff friendly, had a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room one evening off the manager which was lovely.
Good location 5 minutes in taxi to most attractions.
A few good restaurants close by.
Would stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel Granados 83 in a duplex suite from July 2nd to July 8th. We were escorted to the room and got a tour and were shown how everything worked. As soon as the guy left, not 10 minutes later, the power went off! They came back up and fixed it.

The room was very nice, a little cramped but enough space for what we needed. There was a large closet and a desk area, and a staircase leading up to the seating area (which we never used). Off of the seating area was the best part of the room - the semi private pool! We used this every afternoon, and some evenings. It is small yes, and the water only came up to my waist (and I am only 5'4"), but it did the trick. We would pick up a couple of cervesas and sit in the pool and read. We only saw our neighbours once. My only complaint is that the low chairs are a little impracitcal, they should really put a couple of sun loungers on the deck. We stayed in one of the six floor suites which I would recommend. If you stay on the first floor suites, you get a bigger terrace, but everyone can see you. We found the 6th floor to be much more private.

The "gym" in the hotel was a bit of a joke, 2 machines in a room as big as a closet and some free weights. If you are an avid gym goer, you may want to pay to go to a club nearby. We didn't try the food at the hotel so can't comment. The common pool for the other suites is a bit of a joke as well, so glad we had our own!

The location was amazing - a quiet side street within 5 minutes of Rambla Catalunya and 10 minutes of Passeig de Gracia. A ton of great restaurants (Cinc Sentits, Gresca, Igueldo, Ceveceria Catalana etc.) within a couple of blocks. There is also quite a few good cafes nearby, the cafe on the corner made good lattes, and for good breakfast food, we found Hansel (at the corner of Provenca and Rambla de Catalunya). Overall, we would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. If you can fit it in your budget, splurge for the duplex suite, the pool is worth it!

Room Tip: Duplex Suite on 6th floor

Dear Guest,

Thank you vey much for taking the time of reviewing Granados 83. I am sorry that you have found our main pool and gym a bit small, although, being a boutique Hotel located in the center of the city it was difficult to make it any bigger and we are actually glad to can offer those facilities that are greatly appreciated by all our guests. I thank you very much for your suggestion about the low chairs, hopefully we will surprise on your next visit to our duplex ;)

Stayed at Granados for two days in August and, although a bit expensive than other options we had, it was worth every penny! Modern, boutique hotel with very helpful staff. Room was excellent, everything was new and working very well.

We stayed here for 5 nights. We loved the location, a quiet street within easy walking distance of main attractions. Hotel very clean/staff friendly. The rooms are small, not much walking room around the bed, the rooms are also trying too hard at times to be modern ( lighting got annoying). Wi-fi should be free in a 4 star hotel. Don't book thinking you have access to a pool - it is really a large bathtub with limited seating on a deck. Hoping I don't sound overly negative as I would return!!!

I stayed here a few weeks back and i found the receptionest (a blond lady) extremely rude and indifferent to any questions we had. We actually ended up going to the mandarin oriental where the concierge was more than happy to point us in the direction of nice restuarants, help us book tickets to the Barcelona game. She didnt even look at us when we spoke to her. disappointing given it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. In addition the food was really bad, we ordered pizza which arrived stone cold. Will not be back.

I would highly recommend the Granados 83. Great location, great interior, great staff. We were there for a rare child-free weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary & were upgraded to a duplex room with a terrace and pool which was amazing. Thanks for a great weekend.
