Stayed here between 2-6 January and really enjoyed this hotel. Location was great for exploring the Gothic and Born districts. We stayed in a deluxe King City room with views over the Cathedral and down Via Laietana, a bonus being that we were able to observe the 3 Kings parade from our window on 5 January. The room itself had plenty of space, good bathroom and was well looked after by housekeeping. The room was unusually warm though and the aircon did not seem to work. Wi fi was good but when it suddenly stopped working, the staff were able to quickly reset the system. All staff with whom we came in contact were helpful and friendly. Special mention to the doorman (from Argentina) who was always ready with an umbrella and good directions.
It was great to drop into the City Bar for a refreshing drink after a day wandering through the narrow streets of the Born. Buffet breakfast very good. Spectacular views over the city from the rooftop pool area. Will stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the Cathedral have plenty of light and the views are good.

Grand Hotel Central is in a perfect location to explore the city and is a stones throw away from some of the city's main attractions.

The primary draw to this hip hotel is the gorgeous 1920's building and of course, the rooftop infinity pool. The views are spectacular over the city and it is a true urban chill-out retreat. Sadly, as it was October the pool bar was shut for the season, so we didn't get to fully experience its buzz, but you could take up your drinks from the downstairs bar and with a glass of cava at around 3 Euros a glass - what's to complain about?!! It was a shame though, as the weather was still glorious and it would've been the icing on the cake of our stay.

Our Deluxe King City room was lovely and had the most incredible view of the Cathedral directly opposite and the city below. Well worth upgrading to.

My one very small criticism is that the hotel felt as if the pace had slowed down too soon, due to it being October. I know lots of people who come here often in the early summer months and rave about the high level of customer service. It was still great, but I didn't see any of the little extras that they spoke about during my stay.

Friendly staff, great location, charming atmosphere, cozy rooms, great restaurants, a remarkable soundtrack! Who could ask for more? Next time we visit Barcelona, Grand Hotel Central will be our home again!

Room Tip: Have a drink at the rooftop bar and enjoy the view of the city.

Stayed here 30th Dec - 3rd Jan .

Hotel is situated in a brilliant location, easy walking distance to the beach also right next to the Born and Gothic districts which are fabulous. Lots of lovely restaurants and bars on your doorstep. The rooms are modern with large bathroom & shower, room was very warm and had to ask for windows to be opened to allow some fresh air in but this was just a minor irritation. Hotel bar was great and the staff, especially Monica, were fabulous. Tour bus stop is 5 mins from the door. The rooftop bar & pool area is great although we did not have the opportunity to utilise this at this time of year.

As we were there for New Year we booked in for the NY dinner which was expensive and I have to say was disappointing as we had to return our main course and the second attempt was no better than the first which was very disappointing as the restaurant is promoted under the name of chef Ramon Frexia and yet they can't cook beef properly. I did advise the hotel on more than one occasion of my disappointment but they were not interested. We also had tapas at the hotel which were not very good either compared to the beautiful tapas we had at nearby restaurants.

Overall we enjoyed our trip and the location is great but would give the food a miss.

Relatively modern hotel in a great location on a busy street. Close to many walkable hot tourist spots. 4 internet-connected computers in the lobby. Water and chocolate provided at night. Not too expensive. One downside: relatively small rooms. In ours, the bathroom was right next to the bed. Yuk. Still, you shouldn't expect much better in a downtown affordable hotel in the city center! The rooftop is wonderful, complete with swimming pool.

Room Tip: Go for a 4th or 5th floor room, to minimize the noise from the busy street below.

This hotel is located well for access to everything you may want whilst visiting the beautiful city of Barcelona. It is minutes away from Las Ramlas and the beaches, we used the city tour buses to get around and bought a 2 day ticket which enabled us to get everywhere that we wanted, the buses stop just about 50 yards up the main road from the hotel.
Staff were very helpful and courteous, the roof top bar and pool were a bonus, its great to sit up there and enjoy the view whist resting your weary feet, the pool is small but at least there is one!
The rooms were small, probably one of the smallest rooms in a decent hotel we have ever stayed in but we didn't go to Barcelona to sit in out room so that didn't matter too much.
Nice hotel, nice staff just the place for a short break. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: If rooms are important then look at up grading to get more room as standard rooms are small.

It is located very centrally, 5min walking distance from Las Ramblas and about 20 minutes from the beach.. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Very modern feel inside the hotel and in the rooms yet still very cosy; when we checked in we were sent to an occupied room at first which was handled very professionally and we got an upgrade on the spot.
The 5star service, the location and the great atmosphere in the hotel made our stay very pleasant.
