I booked this for my parents as it is 3 blocks away from my apartment. It was close to most things and even a reasonable walk to the Rambla etc but close to 2 metro stations. The room was a double but small, there was little room to walk around the room but my parents were pleased with the bed and slept well. They didn't use any of the facilities except for the luggage room but the staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up and facing away from C/Rocafort are quieter.

The room was cleaning and the locating is good but is near from the metro PobleSec and a little far with luggage from Plaza España.
The bed's was noisy, but with a good mattress.
The service is good and the staff are very friendly.
About the food, I don't have anything to say because I don't eaten there.

On arrival we were greeted by a receptionist, we arrived early to find that we could check in which pleased us. The receptionist was only ok, i felt like we were putting her out by asking for simple things like a map of the city, the wifi passwords etc.
From this, we decided that we would try and avoid said morning receptionist as not to make her work too hard!!!
The room was comfortable, but small. The bed linen seems quiet old and worn and could do with being updated.
The bathroom was very modern, which we were pleasantly surprised. However the shower wasn't sealed and the floor was flooded after one shower, so this was a nightmare. When we informed reception we were offered more towels to dry up the floor. Very unhelpful.
Evening receptionists both gents were very nice and helpful. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, but we think this was a wise choice, as there is ample bakery's near by where you can grab something. The hotel itself was not in a prominent place, ti was about 3 metro stops from La Rambla, but it was off the beaten track to find the hotel.
So for 2 nights @ €279 (just bed) I wouldn't recommend at this price, but it is clean, and fits the purpose.

Basically, this is a good hotel, let down in certain areas.

Upon arrival on Friday evening, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. checked in and went to room.
On the small side, but immaculately clean and presented..............until we went in the bathroom. The rubbish bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occcupancy.

Called the receptionist and the bin was emptied promptly. So far 9 out of 10.

Saturday morning, went down for breakfast, decent choice, catering for the mixed nationality clientele. No problems whatsoever.

That evening, I had some personal business to sort out, which needed printing off and the night shift gentleman receptionist could not have been more helpful. Forgive the rubbish bin, now back up to a 10/10.

Sunday morning, went down to breakfast at 9ish. (served from 7.30 - 11 am) to find 3 or 4 people hanging round. Had a look at the food on offer. Virtually nothing! No bread, rolls, croissants, ham, bacon, sausages. The cupboard was bare!

I asked the only member of the catering staff (who was busy clearing tables) where the food was and she was actually very stroppy. Gave me quite a mouthful, though not understanding a word of it. (not her fault.
She grabbed the list of people booked in for b & b, waved it in front of me. We had paid for b & b so it was irrelevant.
I went to speak to the receptionist, who made enquiries for me and advised that it would be 5 minutes before the food was ready. So we again waited. The receptionist called for an assistant to help the caterer. When he came, he advised us that it would be 20 minutes before the hot food was ready (what, thinly sliced bacon and cocktail sausages?)

We gave up and just made do with a couple of slices of toast.

Quite a few disgruntled customers!

After this, everything reverted to type and the rest of our short stay was perfect.

Maybe the catering lady was overworked and couldn't cope at a busy period. Management should look at giving her extra help at busy periods.

As for the location of the hotel. Not in the best area, but obviously this is reflected in the price. Not many restaurants in the area. Had to walk quite a few blocks to find something suitable.

Would we stay again, probably not, but not due to the breakfast problem, but the hotel is a fair way from the main touristy areas, beaches etc. That was my fault for doing insufficient research, but it was only for a weekend break and we used taxis, which are everywhere and reasonably cheap.

But, take away my issues which were probably one off's I would give the hotel 8/10.

Room Tip: The hotel was very quiet. Never heard anything during the night.

A nice family friendly hotel. Large rooms clean well equipped. Helpful staff and superb facilities. Convenient location. Easy access to the city and nearby shops. The reception staff were excellent when we needed taxis, bookings for our tours and flamenco shows.

Room Tip: Book well ahead to obtain a good room service

Stuck there for extra night because of traffic controller strike. The manager was more than helpful. Very impressed.. Room excellent. Breakfast great..
Bit far from "la Ramblas" but easy access to the great metro system.

Room Tip: go upstairs front.. bit noisy at night but less confined than downstairs.

We stayed here for a couple of nights prior to going on a cruise and were very happy with our stay. The rooms aren't large, the twin (406) facing into the courtyard was fine with a full sized bathroom, the double (401) was on the small side but both were clean, well equipped with a safe secured with a 20 euro deposit and free wi- fi. The breakfast was good and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They were happy to let us in our rooms ahead of time and looked after our bags when we checked out so we could spend time in town without hauling luggage around.
Getting around is easy, there is a metro station a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. The T10 tickets worked well for us, it gets you ten rides on public transport and you can pass the tickets from person to person and is much cheaper than buying individual tickets. If you don't leave the metro connecting rides count as one journey, that includes the funicular to take you to the top of Montjuic.
There are supermarkets close to the hotel, go left out of the hotel, left again, hundred metres up thne road and you will see a chemist on the corner of a road to your right, there is a large supermarket on that street.
Eating isn't expensive if you choose restaurants away from the big tourist spots. Pre book tickets if you want to go into Sagrada Familia, the Catalan Art Museum is good and free from 3pm on Saturdays, the Olympic stadium is free and if you are in Barcelona during the summer don't be tempted to buy big ice creams- it'll run down your arm. Carry water bottles, there are drinking fountains all over the city.
And if you are taking a cruise don't be tempted to walk to the ship, it is miles!
