The situation in Nasty Mondays is good, full of people, good music, but the employees are VERY bad, disagreeable and unprofessional, and if you enter in Sala Apolo, you CAN'T smoke. You have to go out and pay the entry again.

Some local friends recommended this place but I think it´s different on different nights. Monday night (titled ´Nasty Mondays´) was awful; it was just a room full of young men looking to pick up. Worst of all for a dance club, NO ONE was dancing. The dancefloor was full of people just standing around drinking. We gave it a good go (until 4 am) but if you actually like to dance and not just get trashed I would say avoid Mondays at all cost.

Went here for the last night of Chuck Prophet’s European tour and leaving aside the brilliance of his set we felt this was a good place for live music. Stage, dance-floor, large bar area and a friendly and enthusiastic clientele made for a great night. The venue is easy to find, just a short walk from Las Ramblas. It’s less easy to find out what’s on though. We knew about Chuck Prophet’s gig from seeing him at the Jumping Hot Club in Newcastle and just happened to be in Barcelona at the right time. Finding out the details was more difficult even when we went to the venue itself the night before. We did see and photograph one poster for its rarity value!! Maybe the website is the best bet:

http://www.sala-apolo.com/home.asp

So if you can find out what’s on offer give it a try.

I have lived in Barcelona for several months and have had the chance to try out almost every club in the city. Hands down, Apolo is the worst club in the city: the bouncers and bartenders are unfriendly, the ambiance is terrible, and the music is shameful. DO NOT GO HERE! Opium, Shoko, and Sutton are much better choices. Nasty Mondays are as the name implies, nasty. Put simply, do not go to Apolo. If you are left with no other options, it's better to just take a night off.
