The modern and colorful hostel was conveniently located to the centre of barcelona. The staff was great, they were really helpful and at the same time young and fun. The rooms where clean as were the washrooms. A really fun place to stay. Also it was nice that there was staff on duty 24 hours a day. I will definitly return next time I have the chance to go to barcelona.

Stayed here for a week at the height of the season in a twin ensuite at £22. EACH!
Negatives: The room was unbelievably small with just a very rickety bunk bed which rocked violently whenever either of us moved. In the end we ended up putting the top bunk on the floor which proved tricky when one of us needed the toilet at night. NO WINDOWS! Relied on a noisy air conditioning system which thankfully didn't break down or we'd have fried. The room was seperated from the fridgeroom/store cupboard (in use 24 hours) by a thin panel of wood. You could hear every word. In 2 nights I had 5 hours sleep.
Positives: Very friendly and helpful staff and surprisingly secure as I bought tickets for the Spanish Super Cup final and they were there when I arrived. Didn't have to prompt them. The bathroom was good with a great shower and always clean. I quite enjoyed the location. It's away from the 24-hour noise and bussle of the Ramblas and there's a few cafes over the road and a small supermarket just down the road. My sisters stayed just off the ramblas and found few amenities. At the top of the road (2 minutes) is a market where you can buy cheap foodstuffs for picnics which is a great alternative to eating out in the bars and cafes. It's also close to Para-lel tube station which is perfect for the funicular up to Mont Juic.
All in all as a place to crash for the night it worked out ok in the end but I've stayed in better for cheaper.

Ah Barcelona... wonderful food, sights, and sounds. Unfortunately, we stayed at Paraiso Traveller's Hostel on Ronda de Sant Pau. Despite the relatively friendly but informal service, our room was very, very dark, had foul smells, and very little privacy. The paint in the entrance of the building was chipping (asbestos?) and a very slippery stairwell leads up to the inner entrance. We paid for the 2-person private ensuite with bathroom, and got a room next to a loud courtyard with a full-view of nuestro bano, which lacked hot water for the first night and had mysterious smells emanating from the drain. Also, this hostel is located quite a distance from anything fun, and there are questionable neighborhoods right between you and where you want to visit. If you're broke, maybe it's still the best option for you, but our broke-behinds still felt that this experience was not worth the money we saved. Next time, my husband and I are going to spend another 50 euros a night to stay closer to the Rambla. Beware!!
