“Does not deserve the bad reviews.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2011

I stayed here for 2 nights in peak summer this year, was booked very last minute as couldn't find anything else. I was really apprehensive about staying here after reading these reviews about the area etc.....i must say I don't think the place deserves the bad reviews. well based on my experience anyway. Its literally 5 minutes walk from las ramblas, its right in the centre of barcelona, its a busy area and i never felt unsafe at any time around the area. Its just a typical urban area in a major city. Maybe there was a few prostitutes around but they never both you or even speak to you, the staff is friendly, the place is very clean, the a/c was sooooo needed in august!! shared a bathroom/shower room which was always clean, small tv, never used it. the room had a small wash basin etc in there so you could wash shave brush your teeth etc in your room. All things considered I would stay here again when i return to barcelona, it really is a bargain for the price!! DONT book this place if this trip is going to be your main holiday and your looking for a relaxing bit of luxury. DO book this hotel if you just want a cheap convenient base for a few days in Barcelona

There were good things about the room such as the A/C, it was very clean, small flat screen TV..and these were all great given that i was too scared to leave my room. There are prostitutes roaming everywhere, people passed out on the street, others yelling at you once you get out of the building and ect. It was the most miserable night i have ever had. As a group of 12, we refused to leave the building without eachother at all times. It is close to Las Ramblas which was good, but if you can afford it, i deffinitely reccomend finding a nicer, less dangerous area to stay in. The cheap price was not worth it!

My room number was 301, with toilet.
cleanliness- Yes
size of room for two - cramp
bedsheets- white clean
duvet - worn out
toilet - clean, moden, shower
tv - yes
wifi- not in the room but at the reception.
microwave, fridge, computer internet, electric kettel - yes, at the reception.
balcony- yes
aircond -yes
elevator - yes, but too small for two people inside.
staff - ok, dont speak english much, but they are ok.
location-perfect (3minits walk to the ramblas, near to halal restaurants, groceries, mini market, 1 minit walk to Palau Guell)
Sleep quality - poor, because of the noisy from the street with people shouting etc till two in the morning :(
they ask for the deposit of 10Eur forTV remote control and airconditioner remote control - funny :)
price - eur55/nite - consider OK for the peak season, i think it would be much cheaper during low season.
I dont have any problem with this hotel except my travelling partner not able to sleep well due to the noisy from the street and worn-out spring bed. Housekeeping everyday but no bed sheet change. check out at 11 a.m. - too early! and at 11.20a.m. the receptionist called asking us to check out. funny eh? i was too tired to haggle.

i dont know if i should recommend this hotel to you or not... but i thicked Yes - but actually, I got 50-50 feeling of this hotel.... you will spend more than 12hours outside of the room anyway.

anyway, my vacation was great. barcelona was vibrant, colorful and happening.

Room Tip: book early, do some research, location is no. 1!

All the reviews here are somewhat right. If you want to stay b/c the price is reasonable (40 Euros for 2 pax) and you like the proximity to Las Ramblas, than you must now what you are getting. A small room, not too clean but not too dirty, a TV, AC if you need, extra blankets, good bathroom, depressing and decrepit atmosphere and a street which is not too safe at all. The prostitutes are the least of my worries, but the drunk young customers who hand out in front of the hotel are a little more frightening. At last the biggest drawback is the noise. I have earplugs, and still could not sleep at all between the street noise and the other guests. I will not stay here again.

Although in the red district, the hostel has nothing to do with the "ladies" around. The hostel itself is very nice, very clean, very friendly receptionists. The only problem was the size of the room...I've never seen such a small room in my whole life...and I did travel a lot!!! But it was clean, it had AC and a nice bathroom. It was a it noisy outside and the wondows didn't block any of it. The greatest part about the hostal is its location. Close to the center, the Rambla, the beach and the Metro (well, about 500m away). I would recomand it for young tourists

The hostal is located in a street full of pushers and prostitutes, the staff is unpleasant, they ask you to pay in advance without even let you see the room. They also ask you for a 10 euros deposit for the controller of the air-conditioning. There are no facilities and the elevator is one-tiny-person-size. My room was dirty, with breadcrumbs and dust on the floor, the furniture was old and dirty too (it seemed stained by some liquid fallen), there were holes and stains on the blankets. The window was closed by a sort of divider to avoid the unpleasant sight of the prostitutes and their guests on the street. The walls and the doors seemed to be made out of paper, you can hear everything from the other guests, and even keeping the window closed i wasn't able to sleep because of the noise coming from the street.
