“No sleep if it rains!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013

This hotel is very into design and not comfort, I would never stay there again. While Barcelona probably doesn't have huge amounts of rain it obviously gets some, and when it does the external aluminium looking sills are incredibly noisy at night. So we had two sleepless nights , the small saving grace was a reasonable breakfast! We reported this problem to reception and they just said "sorry we know" !

I stayed here with my boyfriend for five nights at the start of May.

Firstl of all, the location is excellent; we like to do lots of exploring by foot on a city break and staying next to a giant glowing blue tower (Torre Agbar) was perfect - we barely ever consulted a map to find our way back to the hotel! It's also well serviced by metro (right next to Glories station), trams and near a main road. Further more, the area is peaceful, clean and seemed very safe.

The room itself; we had an astounding view of the Torre out of the window on one side of the bed. From the other side of the bed, there is an astounding view of whoever happens to be in the shower - the bathroom is surrounded by glass walls which is probably worth noting if travelling with someone you'd rather not see in the buff!

The bed was large and comfy, the shower large and powerful and the fittings were all pretty modern. A couple of downsides; it was starting to look a little tired around the edges and we were also woken by other guests winding up their large electric window blinds in the morning - they are very noisy! Finally, a kettle and tea/coffee would have been a nice touch - we like a coffee before having to get showered and dressed!
That aside, the hotel was exceptionally clean throughout, the rooftop bar and it's little pool was funky (though I'm more than a little scared of heights!) and the views were fun.

Food; We didn't eat in the restaurant/bar as we like to go out and eat local, but we did had some tasty room service snacks a couple of times!

All in all, good value, excellent location and very clean.

A final note and a nice touch. On our last day, we came back to find a small gift with a note attached from Alexis the head receptionist; the cleaning lady had accidentally broken my bottle of coco mademoiselle perfume and they had replaced it with a brand new bottle! Now of course, they did break it, but it was resolved so nicely, politely and efficiently - before I even noticed! Really great service! Thank you Alexis!

Having had a good experience last time here, and an experience that started off well this time, I'm sad to say it's ended with "never again"
the check in staff tried hard to make things work but my room really smelt like a urinal, the ac didn't ever come on, the decor is getting rather shabby and the final straw for me was really a totally rude night desk person who shoved a badly copied sheet in my face for me to do wake up calls for my group rather than accept my paper prepared beforehand so that he could go back to flirting with the group of people he was checking in. Flirt all you like, that's fine by me, but not to the point where you are ignoring other clientele, - that's bad business and bad manners. The hotel may be fine for leisure trips but for business it's not suitable for me and my travelling group anymore.

This hotel provides great value for it's price point. It's a really nice, trendy atmosphere, both in the lobby and in the room. There's a rooftop pool and bar that would be a great way to spend a sunny afternoon! The hotel is located a little bit away from the action areas, however it's a quick taxi ride to get to them and there's also bikes that can be rented all over the place in Barcelona and I would imagine it to be a quick bike ride to get places.

The hotel was beautiful and despite arriving early we were checked in and shown our room. It had a beautiful view over looking the city and a nice clean comfy bed.
The bathroom suite too was clean and efficient. If you like design I highly recommend coming and staying here.
The location was also great. Opposite the road you could find a shopping centre called Glories. Very convenient for any last minute shopping and dropping off the bags in your hotel room.

nice modern design hotel, 2 minutes away from Metro station. 7 euros away (by taxi) from most important places (Rambla, Bareloneta, Sagrada Familia) easy reachable by bike (don't rent bikes from them it is twice as expensive then outside). Nice roof garden with little swimming pool (very cold water). staff very nice and helpful. Breakfast good but expensive .

We stayed in Silken a few weeks back for 3 nights over a long weekend.

We booked the hotel, after hours of searching, due to the good reviews and the fact that the hotel was slightly out of the city center and thus quieter!

We weren't disappointed with the choice at all. Upon arrival the hotel reception is very stylish and, weirdly, smelt lovely, which was a nice touch. Checking in was a breeze and before we knew it we were in a lovely, modern room with the "famous" glass box bathroom. I can see this being a turn off if you're travelling with a friend, but the sliding wall seemed to work well and the toilet is not in view at all.

Just back tracking here with regard to travelling from the Airport to the hotel. We took the Aerobus from the terminal. You purchase the tickets from the driver or the little machine at the bus stop. You can't miss the bus, as it runs every 5 mins and is right outside the main arrivals. We paid c10 Euros each for a return, which takes you straight to the top of Las Rambles. This is where the Catalyna metro stop is and this is one of the main connecting stations. You then need to take L1 line (red) and its only 4 stops to the metro which is, as other have said, minutes from the hotel. This saved the 30-40 Euros it would have cost for a taxi ride.

As others have stated, with the convenience of the metro, you can easily access the rest of the city from here. Other European cities do really show how public transport is done and how affordable it is (it really shows how expensive London is to travel). We used the metro wherever we went and it's very easy to use. However, we did seem to get confused with all the different exits! We also used the tram to take us to a lovely restaurant called Carpe Diem (excuse spelling). If you walk past the metro you will see the tram stop. Take the T4 line and this will take you to the zoo. From here you can walk to the seafront and also walk along the promenade.

Weather was dreadful the whole weekend. Literally didn't stop raining all day and all night. This was even worse at night as the hotel has these damn tin "shelves" (only way to describe it) just outside of each window...the noise it makes when it rains was unbearable. I don't think many rooms escaped this and after hearing other's complaining, with no reasonable outcome, apart from a design flaw, there isn't much the staff can do. They will need to address that; however,

Can't comment on the food in the hotel, as we didn't eat there. The mall across the street offered all we needed for breaky and snacks. Good shopping too (coming from the wife).

The pool and bar terrace was shut; however the weather didn't favor this at all.

I would definitely go back to this hotel and prey for good weather. Nice hotel, modern and clean. Staff seemed very helpful and booked a reservation at the restaurant I previously mentioned, with a lovely touch of printing a map off and leaving it on our table in a our room. With the location being so convenient it's hard not to recommend this hotel.
