“Beware thieves!”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Within 30 minutes of arriving at this hotel we were minus our passports and a rucksack!
We were with 7 other people and our holiday rep at his desk in the hotel reception area. I'd put my rucksack down on the floor in order to sit down and after the briefing the rucksack had disappeared. The hotel checked the hotel's CCTV and saw 3 men walking off with my rucksack.
The problem with this hotel is that it has 3 entrances/exits and therefore cannot be adequately secured. We then had to spend 3 hours at a police station and 4 hours next day at the British Consulate obtaining Emergency Travel Passports. The cost of emergency passports is EUR126 each! Naturally this means we do not happy memories of Barcelona.
However, the hotel staff are very helpful and pleasant. The food is excellent and the room was comfortable.

Room Tip: Better at the back of hotel. Front rooms on noisy busy main road.

We stayed for 5 nights and could not find any major fault. The hotel itself is very contemporary and stylish, the lobby, restaurants, corridors and rooms are some of the coolest I have seen. We booked the standard room which had more than enough space but didn't opt for the breakfast as it was far too expensive. There is a shopping centre across the road which has several excellent, small restaurants where you can have a nice breakfast and anything else you need. Visit Carrefour for anything you forgot to pack! The Metro is about a 5-minute walk up the road and I would highly recommend it, so fast and easy to use. The Centre/La Rambla is about a 10-minute taxi-ride but I would avoid using taxis if you can, they are a tad expensive. If you get a room overlooking city you won't be disappointed but if you don't, you'll be looking onto the Novotel and a building site. The rooms are very comfortable but the bath/shower might put some people off as it's not very private. We didn't get much of a long lie as the room next door's motorised blackout blind seemed to be faulty and was very noisy when opening and closing. The rooftop area is brilliant with 360 views of the whole of Barcelona and when the Torre Agbar is lit up at night it's spectacular. Excellent hotel, would definitely go back.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the view. Always ask to switch room if you're not happy, the sta...

We went to visit Barcelona Spain for the first time. This hotel got us initially for its design. The design looks great but the rooms are small. We made two separate reservation and we did prefer to stay in the same room with the condition that they would clean while we were out. The front desk promised they would make a call to have the staff cleaners clean. That never happened. Overall the staff is friendly. The hotel lacks entertainment in the room. HD channels were not working. The wifi is on and off. Overall this hotel is not a four starred hotel. Overall if we were to do it all over again we would go for another hotel. Oh one more thing, there is a construction going on right next to it. Good luck!

Room Tip: If you were to book this hotel for some reasons, just ask for a top floored room.

Located only 20m from the major subway line (L1) you can get anywhere you need fast. 30m from the hotel is a shopping mall with grocery store where you can get your breakfast or snacks at a much cheaper price. Rooms are good and modern. Wifi is free but you can only surf the web. No email programs will fetch your email on iPhone or iPad. Overall good hotel, handy location.

We stayed at Hotel Silken Diagonal for 5 nights. The hotel is very modern and beautifully designed. The entrance lobby and reception area is very interesting with design detail everywhere you look. Staff of the hotel is very helpful and friendly. We booked a bigger room on the 6th floor with an attractive view of the Agbar Tower. The room was clean and very well planned. We didn’t use the restaurant at the hotel as we explored quite a bit of the city. The breakfast is an extra we didn’t had breakfast at the hotel there is lots of little café’s across the hotel at a shopping mall. We rented bicycles from the hotel and discover Barcelona by cycling. The rides weren’t too complicated Barcelona is very cycle friendly. The hotel is also close to the main metro line. It really is in a good position, not too far to explore the areas of interest but very quiet in the evenings. We used taxis in the evening to go to restaurants. There are a few good restaurants about 2 blocks away from the restaurant but we mostly went to restaurants closer to the city centre. There is a roof top bar and swimming pool with breath taking views of Barcelona. Good for a before dinner cocktail. We will go back to Hotel Silken Diagonal. Thank you to all the staff at Hotel Silken Diagonal for making our stay so memorable.

Room Tip: We booked a superior room. It is a standard room with an extra seating area. The extra space was goo...

Spent 20 hours in this hotel.
Everything went very smoothly, and had no need to explore the city.
Car park is below hotel, but you have to find your way around the block!
Reception - very helpful & gave us an upgrade!
Room - very comfortable and clean - bathroom with glass wall - interesting!
Toilet had tiled walls and good extractor fans!
Plenty of handy power points for the gadgets!
Though we could see the Diagonal we could not hear it!
Al in all - good value!
Would use it again if we had more time

Room Tip: Visit the roof bar at sunset! What a view! Restaurant was a pleasant experience, as we did not wish...
