The glass enclosed bathrooms are very dangerous because you cannot see the walls. There is absolutely no privacy while using the sink or shower.
The overall property is very nice. This hotel is close to the pier and not at all close to any of the sites of this beautiful city. All of the people, except for the manager in the dining room, were very helpful. The breakfasts are okay but no other meals are good.

Room Tip: the corner rooms are the nicest.

We stayed here in the summer of 2011 during our first visit to Spain. The great thing about this hotel is proximity to the metro and rails. The room was outstanding and the views were very nice. I loved how modern and spacious the room was as well as bathroom. It was much roomier than other hotels we experienced while in Europe. The pool on the roof was also a big plus. The one issue we had is that there was no iron or ironing board in the room. This wouldn't have been an issue had the hotel staff been able to provide an iron to us within a reasonable time. They promised the iron the next morning after our request. More than 48 hours into our stay there we still had no iron, and in fact, I had to have a very nasty conversation with a rude receptionist before an iron was provided. Considering that people are traveling from all over it would seem reasonable that irons wouldn't be hard to come by. Even if they were it would be nice to have some customer service. I loved the hotel and I would stay there again but it was a down side.

Room Tip: Facing the diagonal is best!

We stayed at the Silken Diagonal for two weeks at the beginning of JUne. The lobby of the hotel is lovely and after a couple of problems and moving rooms twice we were very satisfied with our room. Room service was very reasonable, didn't sample the breakfast so cannot comment on it. Most nights we were able to use the roof terrace, but on several occasions there was a party going on and it was invitation only, so it was not available to hotel guests, which was very annoying as that was nor of the main reasons we close this hotel. Also, the Sonar festival taking place at the end of the week caused us a lot f bother, as the security was stepped up and we had to queue to actually get through the door of the hotel as well as to get into the lift. On the last day of our two week stay we checked out at midday, but out transfer did not show so I asked for help in reception they were very unhelpful, with a male member of staff saying they would not help as we had checked out! Some staff on the roof terrace bar were also quite rude, a pity as otherwise it is a really nice hotel.

The hotel is perfect for travelers who want to get excellent service, convenient location, reasonable prices and calming atmosphere. We have spent 3 nights in this hotel and we're very glad that we have chosen it.
