We recently stayed at the Onix Rambla for 3 days. Having read previous reviews, we asked for and received a large, quiet room at the rear of the hotel. The roof top view was poor but it was quiet. French doors and a small balcony let in fresh air which was pleasant. The air conditioner worked well and was quiet. In order for lights and air conditioner to function the room card must be inserted into a slot on the wall. Thus, asking for two room cards is a good idea. The bathroom is equipped with a bidet and a deep soaker tub. Note:there are no safety bars so climbing in and out of the tub can be a challenge. The hotel has a delightful breakfast room which we used once, for 8 Euros each. Breakfast included a variety of juices, cold cuts, croissants, bread and a toaster, yoghurt, a variety of cold cereals, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage and pastry.. Everything was fresh.Tables were set with tablecloths, china and cutlery. Coffee was offered and served. The other 2 days we walked to the Boqueria Market on Las Ramblas and had a wonderful time walking around, eating as we walked. Highly recommended! The hotel is located a short walk from a taxi stand, Plaza Catalunya (Hop On Hop Off buses) and Las Ramblas..The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage in a locked room until check in at 2 PM. Book online at the hotel website and book early for special rates. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Onix Rambla again.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel is quieter.

This place is well situated at the top of the Ramblas for anyone visiting the city of Barcelona. It is centrally located with access to shopping, restaurants and bars. The underground and a large taxi rank are steps away. The hotel is quiet and well equipped with modern bathrooms and new linens. Value was great and breakfast room was full of choice. Best part was a rarely used courtesy workstation for emails and direction getting. Super value.

Room Tip: There is no bar or restaurant. Not a problem. There are dozens in the neighbourhood

Stayed at the Onix Rambla in April 2013. Good location, large spacious, clean room. Asked for a quiet location. Was given 4th floor room facing the street. Could hear all the noises of the street, which is very active late into the evening. Garbage trucks come in the night after the pedestrians have vacated the street and you can hear everything. Also, wifi is unreliable and front desk staff not very helpful to get the internet working. You must prepay your stay.

Room Tip: Maybe rooms not at the street side of the hotel are better?

The hotel is well placed for a city break and within walking distance of most of the
City's best features. The hotel is clean but the wifi did not work and the breakfast was average. However in such a wonderful city there is so much to see and do that we spent little time in the hotel. For those interested, the gym equipment is very sparse, barely worthy of the term gym! Still, a decent hotel overall.

The hotel was pretty much what we expected, nothing more and nothing less. Nice pool area (the pool is tiny, though), gym is microscopic but you don't work out in Spain, it's a place to eat well and gain weight.
Rooms are quite spacious and modern, breakfast was for additional charge and to be honest didn't impress us. (you can have something in Starbucks around the corner for the same money)
The location is perfect and area is really safe even at night time.

Had asked for a double room but sent initially to a twin bedded room, staff obliged with a second room 201. This did have a double bed but the paintwork and skirting boards were scuffed and dirty and in need of decoration and this room,.and all of their rooms, are reminiscent of University halls of residence...no embellishments, such as a picture on the wall, utilitarian desk and chair, no armchair, broken shower,....no comfort......think dormitory.
Still we unpacked glad of a double bed and went out to explore. Despite a pleasant walk and introduction to the delights of Barcelona, drinks and tapas there was no way we were going to be able to sleep in 201. Shutters were closed, blackout blinds drawn, windows shut yet I still had the impression that I had pole position at Le Monza!.....the traffic sound was ......LOUD. Jeans over "jammies" I set off for reception where I asked night clerk for another position "on the grid" .....hopefully a little further back.....as I pointed out that I would be better off dragging my mattress out onto the pavement. The night manager was very obliging and gave us an alternative, 306. This room was to the back of the building, twin beds, the distant drone of air conditioning ...nevertheless very welcome and affording the ability to sleep.
Having had this unfortunate initial experience of the Onix, breakfast was a pleasant surprise and very welcomes not .
This hotel is in a very good position and has attentive and pleasant staff ......improvements to soundproofing at the front of the building and some small additional comforts to the rooms would be money well spent and raise the standard of the Onix.

Room Tip: Sixes and sevens, third floor and above avoid rooms to front of the building as they are directly ov...

Onix Rambla is a pleasant 3 start hotel at Rambla Catalynya.

The location is excellent - there is a extremely popular tapas place Ciutat Comtal only 50 metres away. Next door there is convenience store + cafe. And to Plaza Catalunya, fro where there is an excellent airport bus connection (5.75 euros one way, busses each 10 minutes) is only 10 minutes walk.

The rooms at Onix Rambla are modern & quiet. Bathrooms are big and heating + AC works nicely. The only minus is the breakfast, where the service is average or even below it. The guy who was in charge both mornings during my stay, was mostly hiding in kitchen and was not polite (enough).

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing to the courtyard - the view is not the nicest, but those rooms are quiet.
