Owner description: Jewish Barcelona Urban Cultours project was created to revisit Jewish past from a present Jewish perspective through unique private tours to learn about Jewish aspects in this city. In 1999 I start combining my architecture background with my committment to Jewish life as a lay leader, to work in the field of Jewish Heritage. I am the promoter of the landmarking of the ancient Jewish cemetery in Barcelona and co director of research that defined its limits. You are up to an unparalleled Jewish tour of Barcelona, where history, current affairs, opinions and personal experience interweave. Tours offered in English, Spanish, French, Catalan and Italian.

Dominique is a true intellectual. Her tour gives a detailed, knowledge based, thoughtful overview of Jewish life in Barcelona through the centuries. There are many interesting things to look at on the tour, but to hear Dominique speak is the real pleasure. This tour us a must for anyone really interested in Spanish Jewish history. Many thanks!

My teenage daughter and I took the walking tour of the Jewish Quarter with Dominique and could not have been more pleased with our experience. Dominique took us on a journey through time, beginning in the 3rd and 4th century to modern day Jewish life in Barcelona. We learned not only about the history of the Jews in Spain and Barcelona, but we also delved into architecture, “urban renewal” and expansion of the city limits over the past thousand years; an understanding which enabled us to better appreciate everything else we were to experience in Barcelona during our week long stay. Dominique, with her deep knowledge base, intellectual curiosity and passion, was the perfect guide for the 2.5 hour excursion. I highly recommend Urban Cultours for anyone interested in learning about the presence of Jews in the region from the earliest of times, and the impact of this history on Jewish life in Barcelona today.

Urban Cultours, led by Dominique Tomasov, creates a fascinating image of what Jewish life was like in the old city of Barcelona in the Middle Ages. Our group of six, including 2 teenagers, listened closely as Dominique told us some of her own history (which is very interesting) as well as that of the Jewish Quarter before and after the expulsion in 1492. As we walked through the Call, she tailored the pace to match our group's needs, which was quite important because one of our teens was suffering from a stomach virus. Even our sick teenage boy paid attention to Dominique's narrative, which is a tribute to her skill as an intelligent, well-informed and captivating tour guide.

Dominique is passionate about the Jewish history of Barcelona. She was an exceedingly knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide about the important sites and history, and also about the current state of Jewish Barcelona. My children were highly interested and engaged during our tour with Dominique, and have since commented on many occasions how impressed they were during our time together. She has a unique and valuable perspective that you will appreciate and enjoy.

We were so thrilled to find Dominique last spring. She led us on an amazing tour of of Barcelona, explaining the city's Jewish roots and showing us all of the important sites. One of the best parts was hearing about present day Jewish Barcelona. We loved hearing her personal story and learning about the current Jewish community in Barcelona. This was definitely one of the best parts of our trip!
