It was already my second stay. As last year I felt very much home away from home, since the Arai doesn't have that "typical" hotel-feel. It's mor like a privat residence, very well designed,
that invites for relaxation after long walking tours through Barcelona. It is, of course, a bit
expensive but worth it!

Superb staff service. Very nice renovation of a very old building that preserved it's original flavour.
Very clean and comfortable rooms. Impeccably clean general areas.
Very good sound-proofing but the streets in front and in the back of the hotel are busy especially on weekend nights and some loud laughs and yelling may filter through the sound barriers. One does get used to it.
There is no restaurant in the hotel but you have many choices within a few steps.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the George Orwell plaza might experience more street noise.

My husband, niece and I spent 3 days here before boarding a cruise. We really enjoyed our stay--the room was HUGE! It was pretty cool too, very clean, the bed was super comfy, and the rooftop terrace was small but nice. And, contrary to what we saw in other reviews, the wifi worked well and was fast. We did have some trouble finding the hotel on day 1--but that was due, in part at least, to the marathon going on when we arrived; the cab driver couldn't get around it so he just dropped us on the main avenue and pointed in the general direction. Just a few blocks from La Ramblas, the market (incredible), lots of restaurants, and a metro stop (Liceu), it's really convenient. We had no problems with the crime we'd been warned about but we were pretty careful.
If you're looking for a cookie-cutter hotel in a Disneyfied neighborhood, this is not the one for you--but don't be put off by the graffiti and steel door covered shop doors. We had a great time and stayed safe. I would go back and would recommend.

Very cool unique hotel, so close to everything you want to see. We had a family room which was a great size, with two small balconies overlooking the street. That being said the doors and windows were so think that no sound from the street below came into the room. It was very quiet. We had a great time exploring the city from this hotel. Had good restaurant recommendations from the front desk too.
There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there is a small kitchen in each room, so you could have milk and bananas.
Coffee they charged per capsule, which I thought was strange. I am used to free coffee!
They kept our bags for us long after checkout so we could have another full day around in the city.
We would go back for sure!

We booked this hotel after reading other reviews, and weren't disappointed. Its in a great location - 5 min walk from La Rambla or the Cathedral; 15 mins from Placa Catalunya, so easy walking distance from the airport bus. The room was great - double height ceilings, plenty of space, decent sound proofing, and the kitchen was a plus, especially with so many bakeries within a few mins walk for a tasty breakfast. There are loads of restaurants nearby as well, so we didn't really use ours that much (just remember to bring your own Nespresso pods!). The only downside is that, since you are so close to everything, there is a square out the front of the hotel which was really noisy on the Friday night - not as bad on the other nights.
We also made use of the sauna (which was turned on for us) and attempted to use the rooftop pool, but it was just a bit too cold since it is March. But, the views from the top over to Montjuic are great - just wish we'd discovered it earlier, as its a great spot for a drink as they sun sets.
We would definitely stay here again, but will be bringing our earplugs.

Very stylish place with the most comfy of beds. Just of La Rambla and in the Gothic Q, makes it a great location. Easy walk to the attractions, shops etc.
Simple cooking facilities which we used a couple of times, so you can cook all the great food available in the markets.
Helpful staff made out stay most enjoyable. Pool on the roof was novel without being inspiring.
Highly recommend straying here.

We had a wonderful time. Its so much more beautiful then impression on the web-site. And that impression was already good. Staff is perfect. The rooms are designed very tasteful. We have been to Barcelona several times but this hotel is the best till now. We sure come back next time.
