Neighborhood: Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
Description: Chulapio Bar a Crepes is a small bar in the heart of Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter, one of the most central and busy areas of the city. This cosy creperie perfectly combines traditional crepes and galettes from Britanny in France with cocktails, aperitifs and the best gin and tonics. The galettes, or savoury crepes are made from buckwheat flour, preserving the traditional Breton recipe. All ages are welcome at Chulapio. Not only tourists but locals and residents passing through the Gothic Quarter will come across this fun and energetic bar with a great atmosphere- the perfect mix for socialising and enjoy the great crepes and cocktails.

Thanks to tripadvisor, having been disenchanted with our introduction to Spanish food, we were warmly welcomed into this dear treasure! Immediately engaging in conversation with other patrons, we ordered two pitchers of sangria, 3 meal crepes and 3 dessert crepes. Wish we had ordered more to go. We gladly returned forgetting it was their day off...such a crushing disappointment! Equal to the food was the warm welcome and appreciation of the owners. It is tiny so gauge your arrival by avoiding peak times...we had a late lunch which was ideal. Will most certainly return whenever in Barcelona.

With Chet Baker and Louis Armstrong wafting through the ceiling fans, this place serves excellent and real value for money meals. Yes they only have crepes (galettes for the meals) but this is a good break from all the tapas and seafood in Barcelona.

We had the Salmon Ahumado with cheese and rucola. It was literally "finger lickin' good." Together with a pitcher of sangria, it was a perfect lunch. We tried the equally great tasting queso brie, tomate, y espinaca. They have a total of 9 choices for galettes and 8 choices for the sweet crepes.

Their most expensive galette is ?5.00. So with a copa sidra costing ?1.50, you can have an excellent meal for ?6.50.

And you can enjoy all that with Chet and Louis.

We discovered this treasure because of Tripadvisor....the crepes are simply the best we ever had....don't forget the pitchers of sangria ....we had two and crepes for dessert! We were not thrilled with Spanish food....but this small place was the best food we had during our week long trip!!

Found this delightful restaurant via tripadvisor! We went there for a late lunch so there was plenty of room in this tiny restaurant. 6 crepes and 2 pitchers of sangria and we were in heaven!! Crew members from a cruise ship at the next table told us they always come to Chulapio when they are in port. I understand why!! We went back the day before we left Barcelona but it is closed on Mondays. Wonderful owner who truly enjoys what he does. Not to be missed!!

This bar can seat about 20 people so we were lucky getting a seat but I'm really glad we did. I had the crepe with salmon and dill and it was beautiful. Washed it down with an amazing mojito and an even more amazing chilli and coconut mohito - random but worth a try.
