Description: The upstairs of Rias de Galicia becomes a "sea" of little dishes, more casual, more fun, more imaginative, and more economical. A modern setting, with a kitchen bar where chefs prepare many dishes in front of customers. Two Rías in one. The menu has two parts. The main one based on elaborations without fire, is an anthem to the "product". And a second one where we discover the fire.

“Best meal ever!”

Espai Kru isn't cheap but our meal was worth every penny. It would be great for a special occasion.

The menu is based on 'raw' food - focusing on fish - and every course is expertly flavoured and balanced.

We started with the best cava we had in Spain - just 5 euros a glass - and smoked anchovies with manchego & red peppers (you haaaave to get these!).

The shellfish (prawns, clams, oysters) were amazing too. Great value (between 3 and 10 euro per piece) - and every time you worried that the accompanying flavours might overwhelm the seafood flavours, you would be proved wrong!

The raw fish - salmon with a Japanese marinade, red mullet ceviche, tuna tartare - tasted amazing & most of them were available as half size portions. The tomato tartare was also a must have dish (though just ever so slightly too salty!).

For "mains" we turned to the cooked section - a lobster salad with mango & avocado was delicious, but at 28euros (to be expected for lobster, I suppose) I wouldn't have this again unless money was no object. The "grill your own" wagyu however was a bargain at 19euros - and was some of the most flavoursome meat I've ever eaten!

Desserts weren't an after-thought either...delicious hot puddings served with ice cream proved a perfect end to an otherwise fairly healthy meal! Service started slightly cold & difficult to get anyone's attention, but after a while our waitress became a lot more comfortable & even a bit "jokey", which was great!

Our meal with a tip, wine, cava & coffees came to 220euros - as I say, not exactly cheap, but we felt it was actually the best value meal we had of the trip as every mouthful was fantastic! If you're in Barcelona, treat yourselves & go! I'm sure we'll be back when we return to the city.

“Blown away by one of the freshest seafood ever!!!!”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

On my last evening in Barcelona I tried getting into Tickets but arrived too late; their manager referred me to a couple of restaurants which were close by and owned by the same group as Tickets; what an incredible surprise. The atmosphere at Espai Kru was modern, hip and spectacular! The food a pleasant and incredible surprised. I was treated to an amazing experience of creativity and freshness with a diverse penchant for flavors and a yummy wine list. One of the most surprising culinary experiences ever! I hope you have a chance to check it out while in the area! You won't be disappointed!

“Creative blend of Spanish and Asian influences”

We only had the tapas, but quite extraordinary. Two which stood out were the oysters with ponzu dressing and the cerviche.

“not impressed”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

I was excited to try this restuarant because of the affiliations of its other resturants. When we got there it was not too busy. The atmosphere is stuffy we tried the tasting menu since we did not get a lot of help with the menu. They rushed thru the courses and had to slow them down. I thought for the price it was not worth it and not a very friendly bunch. There are much better choices in the city.
