“Good location”

Newer hotel and very clean. Taxi driver said the address we got off our confirmation was not accurate. We found it. location was close to metro stops and an easy walk to seashore. One block away from pedestrian mall with a lot of good places to eat.

Only negative thing was their wifi was very spotty.

If I could review just the hotel it would get 5 stars: brand new building, very clean, all working fine.

Location: close to the beach (10min walk), far to the town centre (an hour walk, or 10min by tube, tube station just 3 min walk away).
the surrounding area very uninteresting and a little bit run down.

The staff is rude, ignorant and after the experience I had I'll never ever look at Travelodge again. a queue of people was waiting for 1hr 50 min just to check in, while nobody offered apologies, explanation, information AND we could all see they are checking in people skipping the queue. At the same time the reception manager (looking bored)was walking leisurely around and picking rubbish from the floor.. (arrival on 20April)
It was shocking and frustrating.

The "modern" door in the whole building cannot be opened without the card opening your room.
If you travel as a couple, ask for the second card straight away, otherwise you won't be able to separate (unless one of you doesn't mind sitting in the room without electricity).
The guests are not informed about it at the arrival, and it was another unpleasant surprise we experienced...

To summarize: the hotel is great (brand new) and the service is horrible.
Gives an average score I guess...

Hello, thank you very much for your reviews, we appreciate a lot your time in order to let us know about this. We hope your stay was nice in Barcelona and also in the hotel, despite of this specific problem about the cue in Reception. We will check how to solve it, is a big hotel, with 250 rooms so is normal to have busy reception in big hotels.. anyway we will work to improve it!
Best regards,

Our party of seven booked 2 double and 1 triple bedrooms for our July stay. We paid £20 per night per room which is an absolute bargain.
When we got off the metro and made our way to the hotel, we did wonder what we had let ourselves in for since the area seemed disserted and major road works were taking place. Pleased to say that we had nothing to worry about as just around the corner was ramblas poblenou which has a real chilled out feel with a lovely selection of eating and drinking places. Many locals frequented this area, many parents taking strolls along the ramblas with their pushchairs etc.
The hotel was clean and airy. Our room looked towards sagrada familia in the distance. Our friends had rooms that looked through a metal framework (think this is a modern contemporary look). Hubby and myself shared our room with our adult daughter and found the rooms to be a comfortable size. One thing that could be improved things is a chest of draws as there was nowhere to place underwear and small items of clothing. There was a rail to hang clothes on which had a small shelf above it but we ended up leaving some of our clothes in the suitcase. The lifts can get busy first thing in the morning so we sometimes used the stairs to go down from our level 6 floor landing but wouldn't be keen to climb up them.
We did have breakfast one morning which I didn't particularly enjoy especially as the bacon seemed only half cooked. We did go to a local bakery a couple of times, 3 pastries for 1.5 euros.

This hotel is located near a beach with plenty of nice cafes on the next street. My daughter and I noticed as we arrived after 10 at night that there were women with strollers and children out and about. The lobby is clean and Very busy at all times. The food at the hotel is not worth the price. Our room was dorm room size and quality but very clean. Metro stop is 3 blocks away. I was out by myself after dark and felt very safe arround the hotel area. Bathroom is 1 person size

My husband and I stayed here for two nights over a weekend. We knew it was a little way out of the city centre when we booked it, but that wasn't an issue for us. It's a very short stroll from the Poblenou Rambla, where you will find plenty of cafes and restaurants. It's a busy street with lots of hustle and bustle, not too dissimilar from the Rambla in the centre. Just a few minute's walk away is Barcelona beach with its beach bars and restaurants.
In the other direction, it's a couple of blocks to get to the Metro system, which takes you into the centre of Barcelona for only €2 per trip, or you can get a multi-day travelcard.

The hotel itself had a modern feel. The check-in process took longer than I feel it should, so if it were busy, you would have a long wait. Luckily for us, there was no-one ahead of us when we arrived. There are only two small lifts in the hotel and again, when busy, this led to a fairly long wait to get to your floor. On a few occasions we decided to walk the seven floors to and from our room.
The room itself was small but comfortable. No cupboards, but there was a hanging space in the corner with a shelf above. Not ideal for staying any more than a couple of days.
We had asked for a double but got a twin. This didn't bother us too much, as it happens sometimes in hotels, but it may be more of an issue for other travellers. The beds themselves were firm and comfortable. Each had two substantial pillows that kept their shape when you rested your head on them - something even some much more expensive hotels seem to struggle with.
The bathroom was small but equipped as you would expect. The shower tray was slippery when wet, and had a sign to that effect, so you might want to take especial care with children or elderly people. The shower was also a little on the weak side, although it was nice and hot.

Air conditioning was included in the price and very efficient; even travelling at the end of July when it was very hot, we had to have it off for the second night, because we got too cold! There were no blankets in the room and each bed was equipped with just a single sheet, so nothing to cover you if you do feel the cold.

One of the best things is the on-site parking, which is below the hotel. This is only ten euros per day, which is far cheaper than most parking in the city and makes a big difference to the overall cost of your stay, if travelling by car.

All in all, it's a great value hotel in a good, if not central, location, close to amenities and easy access to the whole city. We would return.

Very clean and convenient place to stay. Check-in took a very long time and after a lot of travelling is not what you want. The terrace area is in the shade which is unfortunate. The rooms are clean. The whole place is very basic and no frills, but for the money is a good stay. Just be aware that the rooms are small, we had 3 adults and 1 single bed was under the wardrobe! There is no storage at all in the room, other than a few hangers above a bed, deemed to be the 'wardrobe.' Also the breakfasts are not great, there is much better available locally for a better price too.

Just returned from a great little city break to Barcelona, staying at the Travelodge Poblenou.

We paid approximately £20.50 per night, having booked it some six months in advance. This turned out to be unbelievably good value, in comparison to other hotels in the area. As such, it was packed with people from all over the world. The reception staff were a bit on the slow side but on the whole, pretty helpful.

We were given a room on the first floor which was fine by us as it's right next to the stairs and a bit away from the rather noisy lifts. It was a standard UK style Travelodge room, perhaps a little bit smaller, and came with a shower room, chair, writing desk and full length mirror. The bed was quite comfy and we slept like logs throughout our stay. The comically small LCD TV had a few English channels, mostly news and the BBC World Service. The in-room air conditioning was a piece of cake to work and kept us nice and cool at night. Our view wasn't great, but it's not as though we spent hours gazing out at the adjacent building site...

The nearest Metro station is two blocks away and provides easy access to the city centre, airport and various other sights in the suburbs. It's around 14 blocks from the Gothic Quarter if you fancy a nice, lengthy stroll.

The neighbourhood of Poblenou was gorgeous with plenty of tree-lined boulevards, parks, period houses and pavement cafes/restaurants throughout the area. The Rambla de Poblenou is the main street and is effectively pedestrianized, with dozens of dining options along its entirety. We spent each evening dining alfresco and 'people watching' with a nice glass of Rioja.

The hotel is only four blocks from the beach which was absolutely stunning. Hiring sunbeds and a parasol proved to be a bit steep though, 20 Euros per day can fairly mount up if you're there for anything more than a few days. Also, 5.50 Euros for a half litre plastic cup of lager from the beach café is a total liberty...

When I return to this beautiful city, this will be my first choice of accommodation. If it had a swimming pool, I'd have given it 5 stars.

PRO-TIP: If you're arriving around 3pm, don't bother trying to check in as the queue will be enormous. Leave your luggage in the secure room, go for a nice cold pint, come back in an hour and check straight in.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the lifts as they bing constantly, shut loudly and invariably contain drunk peo...
