Reviewed May 11, 2013

Very nicely appointed , brand new hotel.
Not the best view , as they are building next door ..... And the builders start early !
A nice room as you would expect from a new hotel , bar / cafe downstairs very good
Pablo the waiter is lovely , very good at his job , very pleasant and funny ! He is the best asset the hotel has.
The parking is €10 a day which is very good for Barcelona , the hotel is not in the centre , you need to use the metro which is directly round the corner and a short 5 mins trip takes you to the centre .
Don't try any drive around as 1. It is all one way and difficult 2. Parking cost is horrendous 3. You see more by walking 4. The metro is excellent

Room Tip: We had a room on 3rd floor overlooking building site .... The other rooms face the road

15 mins by metro to the city center (Ramblas, Passeig Gracia, etc.), 5 mins on foot to the beach. The prices are very low, however i do not recommend taking a breakfast there-better go to Rambla Poblenou-the cafes there are a way better.

Hello! thank you very much to book in Travelodge Poblenou! we hope you enjoyed your holidays and also staying in our Hotel. Just to clarify that breakfast is included in the prices form the hotel, so we give a complet service with lowest prices, we understand that is not a very high quality breakfast but we try to provide the basics from breakfast: croissants, bread, yogurts, coffe and juice... Thank you for your review, we will try to improve it.

I wrote this earlier but got the Travellodge wrong in the city, so I have decided to try again. Here goes, this is a travel lodge and it is what it is, a no frills hotel, no pool, why would you want one with the Med 10 minutes down the round . But clean and a very new hotel . And friendly staff, Esp Fabio the bar manager. Who with great local knowledge and advice. The rooms are clean and tidy, with comfortable beds .
There are no facilities in the rooms or is there room service . The food in the bar is limited to pizza and toasties .
Breakfast is a continental type , so no full English here, but there is plenty and its good.

Location..
I have read a few of the other reviews and I agree with Peter M the leafy Ramla La Poblenou is 50 metres from the hotel with bars and ćhic shops and and at local prices, lovely ice cream from the chocolate box and a bar next door that makes the best Sangria in large glass fish bowls, but beware they are moorish but potent.. Ask my girlfriend who could hardly walk after two..
Buses,
Outside the hotel was the bus stop that brought you back from the city, number 36. And the 144. And the number 6 terminated just down the road, the metro was a block away. The beach was a 10 minute walk away with a few bars but pricey compared to the Ramla la Poblenou.. 20 minutes walk will get you to the Olympic marina which has many restaurants ranging from McDonalds to Greek and loads of sea food places, have a walk round first before eating since a set menu sea food taster can range from € 15 a head to € 25 a head for the same thing with no difference in the quality of food.
We walked into the city whilst we was there, and unless you are infirm or disabled its a easy and enjoyable walk and, you will get to see some beautiful old buildings and possibly the real Barcelona with leafy suburbs . From hotel to the the gothic quarter is about 40 minutes . Enjoy!!

Room Tip: There was a bit of building work going on but we didn't notice it. We was only on the second fl...

Exactly what was expected from a budget break, the Hotel is new but the staff and facilities make for an excellent break. Ideally situated from the Poblenou tube station and nothing was too much trouble, unfortnately, the breakfast is best avoided if you want a full English but if cereals and croissants are your thing, fill your boots. No complaints here, go, book, and have fun.

Room Tip: Upper floors give you a view of the city

For evening meals there's plenty of choice on Ramla La Poblenou which we only found on our second night being as it is in the opposite direction to Llacuna Metro station. If you don't fancy staying in the city centre to eat, you'll find something there.

The beach is 10-15 mins walking distance from the hotel and once on the front it's another 10-15mins to the central beaches and Marina. Failing that, 3 stops on the Metro to Barceloneta.

It really is a fantastic city with loads to do and see and lots of hidden gems for food and drink off the beaten tracks.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms (01 to 04) are adjacent to the cleaners store room and therefor noisy from early...

Travelodge Barcelona Poblenou, was booked early for peace of mind as travelling with children. As a family of 5 and one room could not accommodate 5 people, had to book two rooms, that was acceptable. And request on telephone was made that please make sure that the rooms are next to each other. Please read carefully, that when we arrived in this 10 story hotel, there was a lobby for 8 people only, there was not even a wall clock on the reception desk, reception staff was unfriendly, unhelpful and non-cooperative.The two rooms allocated to us were on the same floor but on both extreme end of the floor to each other, which as a start of the holidays put the children off and us as well, no help or courtesy shown or done by the staff, felt like we were in a charity.Rooms were dirty and smelly, air conditioning was inadequate.
Room 520's Bed Sheet had a "poo" stains on it(see pic for evidence). There was no mode of communication to the front desk from the room,no tea making facility was there unless you pay a deposit for 10 Euros for the kettle and buy rest of the stuff.I am thinking of making a claim for a full refund to Travelodge, for ruining our FAMILY TRIP. Highly unprofessional staff, filthy rooms, poor lobby seating, under cooked food. A Youth Hostel Would be a Better Choice!!

I booked my stay through Booking.com. It was a prepaid room and I booked it two months in advance. I expected a charge immediately but they never charged me. One month later (one month before our stay), they decided to charge my card.
Well there was an issue with the card, still haven’t figured out what. Booking.com sent 1 email saying there was an issue. I missed it for a few days as it got lost in all the other advertisements coming through from them and then I received a cancelation.
I called Booking.com who contacted the hotel to renew my reservation but the HOTEL would not. I was told I could rebook the room as there was availability but when I looked online, it was a higher rate.
So I have decided not to stay with this hotel.
