“Overall a great stay!”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

This hotel has been recently renovated with rooms decorated in cool and fun "Barcelona" style. The rooms and bathrooms are modern, the staff are friendly and really helpful and it's a great hotel. The location is just fantastic!

Excellent location in the heart of Barcelona; walking distance to most of the sites. This converted dormitory has the typical Indigo style. Modern and comfortable, with murals of Gaudí buildings in the rooms. The staff is friendly and efficient, ,and will hold your bags so you don't have to pay the ridiculous 50€ early-checkin fee. Our upgraded room had an private outdoor terrace, which was nice for a late afternoon glass of wine. There is a large bar terrace and a small swimming pool in the courtyard. The breakfast buffet was a disappointment. Most of the foods that you would expect to be hot, like fried eggs, were room at temperature. Go to the corner to Gust Restaurant for a better breakfast at a lower price. In spite of this, I would enthusiastically recommend this hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Hotel Indigo Barcelona on TripAdvisor!

We are happy to see you pointed out the benefits of our location and all that is around to do and even see. Plenty of shopping, dining and the city center are all definately within walking distance of the hotel.
You have covered all aspects of your stay and we are particularly appreciative of your comments about our great location and friendly staff. It is always hugely motivating when one takes the time and trouble to acknowledge the staff concerned.

We look forward to welcoming you back!

Kind regards,

Marcos Becerro

I booked for my friends online as I had good experience with Indigo before, and we (3 couples in 3 rooms) had a wonderful stay. Marcus the manager, is great, so are the ladies at the desk (forgot their names). Our rooms are spacious and 1 of our friend couple even got jacuzzi tub in their room. I believe and we are thankful that we were given upgrades. My husband and I arrived the latest in the evening from trip via London while my friends arrived early from the US, so we got the spacious handicap room with balcony on 1st floor instead (no tub but a big shower). The king beds are comfortable, and not hard as in some other older hotels in Barcelona. The complimentary orange juice, besides coffee and tea, in the room are nice touch. Noticed besides complimentary PCs, there are iPads at the lobby for patrons' use. Wonderful Marcus also helped us book tickets for the flamingo dance show which we very much enjoyed. We did not book the rooms with breakfast, but ate at the hotels on 2 of the 3 mornings there and the omelettes were nicely prepared and not more expensive than other cafe's 1 block off. On the 1st morning, because we were at a hurry to join our tour guide who picked us up at the hotel, the waitress and chef were nice enough to find us a box to take the omelettes with us (don't think most patrons would take out breakfast). The hotel, in my opinion, is best value in Barcelona. So again we enjoyed our stay at hotel Indigo as we did in Shanghai off the Bund. Keep up the good services and amenities!

Room Tip: Bathroom with double sinks are such a plus

We couldn't have chosen a better hotel for our stay in Barcelona. Our room was huge with sitting area, 2TVs, king bed, large shower and an incredible terrace with double sunbed and chaise longue. This new hotel offers colourful moderniste style in every area along with soft music everywhere, even on our terrace. The location is perfect for walking or taking transit to anywhere in the city, being only 3 blocks off Placa de Catalunya, the centre of the city. The breakfast offered had much choice with some interesting Catalan selections as well and was served in the lovely bright end of the restaurant overlooking the main hotel terrace (with swimming pool). Finally, the most important aspect of any hotel, the staff: the front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well as fluent in English…thank you, Tamara, Mariel, Helena and Cristina. And Rachel, in the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, was charming and attentive. All in all, we would definitely stay here again and would also highly recommend this hotel to couples and families.

Room Tip: We stayed in 602 which faces the back, has a fantastic sun terrace and is extremely quiet.

This guy from Madrid definitely had a great idea when he purchased Gran Via de les Corts 629 and changed it into 76 trendy and most comfortable rooms. The more you travel to Barcelona, the more you long for curves and no angles. In the train from the airport I was lucky enough to spy over a Smasung i-pad between two front seats : a fashion show, not proper bathing suits but glam-trash gears modelled by dreamy young men and two-colored (turquoise/black, fuchsia/blond) haired cheerful and cruelly determined ladies. The young couple on the front seats kept laughing (from then on, you notice that Barcelona is brimming with lovers). Dreamlike is this city. From Gothic ages to the 1930s, Barcelona had a stunningly bitter history and since boasts a long list of artists, from poets to Gaudi, from Picasso to writers such as Jaume Cabré (author of brand new "Confiteor"). Hotel Indigo conveys and re-interprets this Cataln modernism : wall-to-wall picture of enlarged ceramic tiles, oval and shiny white side tables and attractive silver taupe carpets, vase-shaped mirror, high stemmed lamps and beds like clouds (incredibly thick mattress) to dive into. Clever long rooms that make you feel in a 3-room apartment overlooking pools and palms. Feeling like playing on the floor, sprawling on the bed, enjoying sheer space (and the Rice milk & Cherry body lotion), something joyful overcoming you. Lovers unlimited... Breakfast room blooming with tangerine velvet chairs and golden lights. Cocktail bar next door and above all, a most friendly welcome from the desk staff (thanks Marcos). Ideally located with two of Gaudi's highlights (Pedrera and Casa Batllo) only 7 minutes walk away. And excellent quality-price value.

Room Tip: Address : possible confusion with Gran Via Madrid (the reason why Indigo mentions Plaza Catalunya...

Modernist Gaudi-inspired interior befitting the central location and friendly, helpful staff create a desirable hotel. We had a suite reserved but ended up having a large family room with roof terrace, which was lovely. Cleanliness and amenities in room were first class except for stingy supply of coffee capsules. We ate in the hotel restaurant and food and service were very good, except daughters pasta and pesto had to be changed as the pasta was not cooked properly - chef let the side down there! Price of food and drink was reasonable for central Barcelona.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade and you might get lucky

What a great 5-star review, thank you. Many of our guests enjoy our Hotel and its facilities. With our complementary services as wi-fi, minibar and Nespresso Machine, a stay at our hotel becomes a reasonably priced getaway. We give to our guests 2 complimentary coffee capsules every day during their stay. If we would had known that you needed more, we would have given to you some extra.

Your review has been shared with kitchen staff to ensure situations like this do not occur again. Thank you again for your review, and we hope you choose to stay with us again in the future.
