During our recent trip to Barcelona we happened to go have two times lunch at this place. The first time we ended up there by accident. Arriving at our nearby hotel already well into the afternoon we were looking for a place nearby to have a quick lunch. So we walked a short hundred steps to Suculent. The name by itself is already inviting. It's a tiny restaurant but luckily you can sit outside on the sidewalk or even on the square.
We ordered the PIGLET WITH MELON, and the GRILLED SQUID WITH FRESH FOIE. Wow, what a surprise it was. Very tasty, but also very original combinations - new tastes!
The second day we wanted to try another place but as it was closed we returned to Suculent, as it seemed a sure value. And yes it was. This time we first ordered the CALF TAIL AND MUSHROOM CROQUETTES - something you should absolutely try out! Followed by GRILLED OCTOPUS WITH CHICKPEAS AND BLACK SAUSAGE and COD FISH WITH SNAILS. Everything very original and absolutely tasty combinations.
As a side remark though, especially that you're not at the most upscale part of Barcelona, it comes at a price that is definitely above average for Spanish taverns. Especially when they also charge 2 euro for a piece of bread, not that it ruins the bank, but good food comes at a price here. Nevertheless, highly recommended!!
