Neighborhood: El Born / La Ribera
Description: Located in one of the quietest corners of the Barrio de Sant Pere, between a New York air and French character, it is Elsa y Fred. With their first 5 years of running in, Elsa y Fred has captured the attention of all who pass through this area and seduce with the delights of their dishes. With an offer based on a great variety of tapas and dishes made with products of good quality selected by Chef Ramon Miracle Segura, this gastrobar has managed to stand out among the local cuisine.

it was always busy ,mostly with diners,a nice atmosphere, and the two argentinian ladys work very hard to keep you supplied with food and drink,we always had a couple of nightcaps there before returning to our room to sleep, the food always looked good and tasted good, and you can see them cooking it as the kitchen is in the same room as you eat

We stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking into the middle of Barcelona.

It serves great tapas such as mushroom croquettes and the tune tartare but the best of all was the Catalan Creme desert which was amazing.

To too it off the owners and staff were very friendly and the the restaurant had a great atmosphere.

If you get the chance you should visit this restaurant whilst you are in Barcelona!!

Came across this restaurant by chance and so glad we did. Nicely decorated, open fronted with a great buzzy atmosphere. Helpful staff and high quality food cooked in an open plan kitchen. Not an extensive menu - mainly tapas dishes served as large or small portions. We liked it so much we returned 2 nights later and luckily they managed to fit us in after a short wait outside at the little pavement tables (provided for drinks only) - an ideal opportunity for a pre-dinner G&T. The second visit was equally enjoyable and all the tapas dishes sampled were excellent as were the wines we chose on both occasions. It's located directly opposite the Catalonia Born Hotel not far from the Arc de Triomf. Definitely well worth making the effort to find. Interesting to read in a previous review how it got it's name - what a lovely story.

found this place by accident wandering around our neighborhood. Loved its old fashioned atmosphere--you feel like you're in the 1920s (reminded me of midnight in Paris), with great sangria and mojitos. the tapas are to die for, especially if you like sushi and foie gras. I came back for the tuna tartare. we ended up coming every morning for breakfast (you can get breakfast sandwiches on croissants, yogurt parfaits, good coffee, french toast) and the staff is soo friendly. they all recognized us by the 2nd day and even had my breakfast memorized! definitely check this place out when you are in the Born area

Elsa y Fred is one of those little gems that you sometimes find when visiting a new city. The atmosphere was perfect for a couple´s night out: cozy with dim lighting and soft music... We tried lots of their tapas... my favorites were the "croquetas de ceps", the prosciutto dish (that goes perfect with the classic "pan con tomate") and the roast beef sandwich. But everything was tasty and delightful. I also enjoyed all the little details in their decoration, the see-thru kitchen, the little tin where you get your check. When i visit Barcelona again, I´ll make sure to go back!! If you´re looking for a restaurant where you can find a good version of the local cuisine, don´t miss ElsaYFred. Plus, they are located just 2 blocks away from the "Arc de Triomf" one of BCN landmarks, where there´s also a metro station.
