Why Tripadvisor doesn't have this listed as a restaurant is beyond me. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world, we have eaten here several occasions and the foods has always been exceptional. The decor is very nice, with a balcony overlooking the main dining area with tables for two. The main dining room is a large, open space with an enormous white flower arrangement that is stunning. This was the location for the filming of the first restaurant scene in "Vicky, Christina, Barcelona."

The pork cheek with prawn was unbelievable: the meat just melted in your mouth. And the duck confit was excellent. Both of us ALWAYS order the cannoli, and, for desert Pinya con Crema Catalunya.

We are going back to Barcelona this spring and I can't wait to return to Els Quatre Gats!

Barcelona, trail Picasso Les Demoiselles d'Avignon
By Zoran Slavic

"Els Quatre Gats' is a restaurant in Barcelona where the young Picasso 1900th organized his first exhibition. Having learned from the curator of the Picasso Museum for this information, I went to the address: Carrer de Montsià third A waiter from Paris Pere Romeu, was returning to Barcelona in 1897. founded the cafe, a kind of institution with actual and future bohemianism. He did not know thunderous glory of this building. A dozen years later, he died as a victim of its own unbalanced plans. And tuberculosis. Picasso and Catalan art as giants, and their society was and Antonio Gaudi, probably with brilliant passion "Sagrada Familia" in his head, from the inn, today the prevailing ocher-yellow, brilliant thinking, drawing and drinking various alcohol made the cult of the cafe and meeting place for artistic and tourist Barcelona. In this bar, located near the center, there was no one to tell me whether you are at it, once, visited by "happy girl" from Carrer D'Avinyo. Or the young Pablo had personally find them in a location that is not too far from this building. In which otherwise appear and the Chinese theater of shadows. Quite close to the official city center of the Mediterranean, Catalan, metropolitan. Remanded to the darkness fell. As in all the city. On the Rambla Avenue traffic slowly subsided. Not so far from Africa, the day arrived almost straight summer, the night flowed with the freshness of the Pyrenees. Midnight softened sounds of Mediterranean policy would disappear in the scent of the sea, barely, just do not forget the urban story, shaded gasoline vapors. I breathed in the night most zealous city in the world. Or, at least one of them.

If this is the restaurant and bar, see what I said about it before. If it is not, I do not know what you are asking about.

Els Quatre Gats is one of the most famous bars/restaurants in all of BCN. It is on the main floor of Casa Martí, which was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch ( One of the main founding architects for the modern BCN ). They serve typical Catalan food in the dinning area and Catalan and Spanish tapas and appetizers in the bar area. It is quaint and filled with ambiance. They have art hanging on every wall, including the bathroom, ranging from Casa to Rusiñol, and of course Pablo Picasso ( who had art shows at this location ). It was a hang out for those in the forefront of "Modernisme" that ran rampant in Catalonia in the late 19th century.

The relation between price and quality is just. The real reason to dine or visit here is for the sake of being in a place that was frequented by revered artists.

The chicken pate in the bar is a must! AND the classic dishes in the restaurant never fail. Finish with a "crema catalana," typical creme brule of Catalonia.

Hard to find, worth the search. Metro Urquinaona
