Excellent customer service and excellent location. Rooms are spacious and clean. We needed to change the length of our stay and reception was very helpful, especially Ruby or Rudi (can't quite remember her name). Definitely will go back.

I stayed here in Feb 2012 and my experience was quite good.
The reception staff was very friendly and courteous. I was not carrying the right adaptor for my laptop but the staff managed to find one although they didnt have many Indian visitors.
The room was clean, not too small but just right. Very conveniently located. Just a short walk away from Arenas.

Finding the hotel was a little difficult......the whole of the front had been removed and was about to be renovated! We were met with a graffiti ed hardboard frontage to indicate where it was! Not the most inviting welcome! The staff however were lovely!
Our room was very clean with a lovely big double bed located on the 4th floor at the rear of the hotel. The heating system meant that the room was incredibly hot....and after fiddling with the control panel and getting nowhere fast we opened the window and left it that way! This meant that we did hear street noise and renovations starting up at 8.30.
The hotel is directly opposite the Poble Sec metro station - easiest metro system we have ever used and ideal for getting around the city when the feet have given up!
A great location for five nights!

Room Tip: Upper floors at the rear would be best option.

This hotel was fantastic, made even more so by the wonderful staff who helped us throughout our stay. This started with our very first appearance at the hotel, arriving at 7:30am on a rainy morning after an overnight flight from the US. We were exhausted, and really had no place to go before the posted afternoon check-in time, but the young lady at the front desk said she could check us in early without issue - a godsend for us. Johanna was very helpful when answering our questions about local attractions, how to use the metro, and where to eat. The young man who worked the night shift (had an eastern European first name) was also extremely helpful when one of our party had a minor medical emergency. He could tell we were somewhat stressed when we came back from an unsuccessful attempt to find a clinic that was recommended by our US-based travel insurance. He informed us that an emergency room facility was no more than two blocks from our location, and helped us figure out how to get there. The clinic was very good, and it cost us less than $100 for a visit to get an ear infection treated. He and Johanna answered many queries about day trips to sites we were planning, and gave good information. They represented the hotel very well.

Location - very good for our day trips. We had a metro stop (Poble Sec) located directly across the street from the hotel. There were bakeries just 2 or 3 doors down from the hotel for a quick and cheap breakfast, and many tappas and restaurant eateries within walking distance. A supermarket and produce market were also within a block or two, and made it very convenient to keep our room stocked with water and fresh fruits, as well as toiletries. The street in front of the hotel (Avinguda Para-llel) was busy and could be noisy, but we didn't have problems with it as long as we kept our room window closed. If one was to visit during the summer, this might be more of an issue, but others have commented you should then request a room on the back side of the hotel.

Room - the room was nicely furnished, using contemporary European styles. The room had an LCD TV that didn't have a very impressive picture until I discovered it was due to an energy saving setting on the TV; once that was changed it was fine. We had 3 English language channels to watch (CNBC, Bloomberg, and BBC World News), but also enjoyed watching the Spanish channels. There were plenty of outlets for powering up cellphones and cameras at night. The bed was very hard - typical for Europe, but it was comfortable once you got used to it. The bathroom was roomy, and had marble tile and a shower with plenty of hot water at very good pressure. Very little noise from within the hotel, either above or below our room (#214).

Dining - We ate one night in the hotel's restaurant when we discovered our favorite restaurant (Paralelo 91) was closed that evening. Food was OK, but not exciting. It seemed to be a one person show as the woman who took our orders disappeared until our food was ready, but other than delaying a beer refill it didn't impact us. Did not eat breakfast there during our stay as we had read it was cheaper to eat outside of Barcelona hotels.

Maids were efficient and did a great job. Couldn't ask for more.

What a great find in Barcelona. This little gem of a hotel was super affordable, clean, spacious, convenient to public transportation, and most importantly very comfortable. The hotel is located right across from the Metro Station Poble Sec. Take the Parliament exit and you will be right across the street from the hotel. In addition to its convenient location, the hotel is also within walking distance from the Spanish square, and the Ramblas (if you don’t mind a bit of a walk.)

I booked a double comfort room, which had a double bed; flat screen TV, a minibar, wood laminate floors, and the largest bathroom I have ever seen in Europe thus far. In addition to its large size, the bathroom was supplied with premium toiletries such as toothbrush and toothpaste, lotion, shaving kit, shoe shine, and sewing kit.

The staff was friendly, spoke perfect English, and they were able to accommodate us as soon as we arrived, which was several hours earlier than official check- in time. The free wireless internet is slow and only works for surfing the web. Consequently, you can’t use it to download your email -- which you can still check by using an online portal such as Google mail, or yahoo mail. This was a bit of an annoyance, but I was still glad to have free internet.

Our room was located on the back of the hotel, rather than facing the Paralel Avenue. As such, we did not have to worry about traffic noise. However, I did hear pipe noises and some other guests speaking loudly early one morning. Another minor problem is that the shower curtain in the bathroom is too close to the edge of the tub, which often touches your body while you shower (yuck!), and also led to water spillage on the bathroom floor. Perhaps a curved curtain rod would solve this problem.

We did not eat at the hotel, but there are a lot of food options within walking distance, including a bakery where you can buy your breakfast for a fraction of the cost the hotel charges. There were also several grocery stores and fruit stands where we bought snacks and water.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel, and I would stay there again next time I visit Barcelona. I was able to sleep well and have refreshing hot showers every day. The Silken Concordia is an excellent deal for travelers who want comfort without spending a fortune.

Very comfortable and clean hotel in a great location in the city centre. With a metro stop outside the door we could get anywhere in the city in 30 mins.
Staff were helpful. Great value for money. Definitely recommended!

We spent 3 nights at this hotel mid December and cannot fault our stay.

The staff were extremely helpful with assistance and local info. We could not fault the hotel for value for money and comfort, and have only marked the rooms and sleep quality down one point due to the rooms (and fridge) being incredibly warm. We were told we could control the temperature in our room but couldn't alter the heat. We did not ask additional assistance for this as opening the window wide was sufficient (we were on 6th floor). We stayed on a room only basis but with small fridge for snacks/water, and plentiful meal options and bakery directly outside, this suited us fine. Excellent location next to 2 metro stations on different lines, and with bus to the airport only 10 mins walk away.
