“Enjoyable Stay at the Hotel Jazz”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Due to very favorable comments on TripAdvisor, we stayed at the Hotel Jazz for four nights, pre cruise. Upon our arrival in the afternoon, the staff at the reception desk could not have been nicer or more accommodating; we were given a room on the fourth floor, facing the street, and we were concerned that it would be too noisy. The gentlemen at reception immediately offered another room that would be more acceptable to us. As it turned out, we stayed in the original room and were not really bothered by the street noise. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the hotel's location is great for walking to the Plaza, Passeig de Gracia, La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter. We ate breakfast at the hotel on two occasions; the food was good and the staff was excellent. After returning from dinner each evening, we spent time at the lounge and very much enjoyed our conversations with Nico who helped us with our Spanish. He also makes a delicious Mojito!!
I do agree with another reviewer's comments about the lady at reception who was usually there in the morning. We asked her for help in getting tickets for the Hop-on, Hop-off bus tour and she definitely gave the impression that she would rather be spending her time on something else. In spite of that, I still would give the hotel a five. The friendliness and professionalism of the rest of the staff more than made up for her attitude.

Pleasant hotel situated near Ramblas and Catalyunia Square. Some rooms are better than others but our friends requested a street facing room [ after being given a small interior room] and were accomodated without question. Hotel is clean and well staffed by pleasant staff members. Bar prices are rather steep but there are a variety of bars next to the hotel. We booked the hotel at a reasonable price but on checking again for October 2013 we find that the price has gone up by a considerable amount.
Worth considering if the price is right. Small sunbathing area on rooftop is very pleasant if weather is good.

We were thrilled with the central location of this hotel, located just a couple of blocks from Placa de Catalunya and La Rambla and just next to the Universitat Metrol station. It was easy to get to everything from here! The room was very nice and clean and quite spacious.

Our only complaints were: being woken up several times in the middle of the night from the sounds of bottles being collected by the recycling lorries on the street below (because we had our window open; otherwise the room was very quite with the windows closed). We also lost the wi-fi one day and had no hot water one morning. But the staff were very apologetic and accommodating in spite of the circumstances. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking street can get noisy at night if you leave windows open; would suggest internal ro...

We travelled for a romantic 3 night break. This is a great city with so much to offer and this hotel is right in the midst of it all. A two minute walk and you are in Placa de Catalunya or at the top of Las Ramblas. There are metro stations close by and plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from on your doorstep. The room was larger than average and the large bed extremely comfortable. The rooftop terrace and pool was a great place to relax in the early evening sun before heading out for the evening. I would definately return.

Room Tip: We were offered courtyard or street view. we chose street and were given a room on the second floor...

First time in Barcelona, and spent the first night at Hotel Jazz before moving to an apartment. Excellent location close to Placa de Catalunya and Placa Universitat, with plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. Easy walking distance to La Rambla for people-watching and Passeig de Gracia for high-end shopping. Hotel is modern, the area is safe, rooms are clean and comfortable with stylish flair (black tile on walls and floor in the bathroom). Efficient and friendly welcome at the front desk. My room faced an interior courtyard, so it was quiet. Everything worked the way it should. The bathtub was great for a welcome soak after a long airline journey. Did not have breakfast or other meals in the hotel so can't comment on the restaurant.

Room Tip: Street noise can be an issue in Barcelona, so if you're sensitive to it, bring ear plugs or ask...

Hi
Stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and was lovely then, just as nice if not better than I remembered. staff very helpful, rooftop great for relaxing.
Hotel room lovely, had twin bed room, had to keep moving the beds apart as the maid kept putting them back together, shared with my daughter.
Will definitely stay there again if I am lucky enough to get back to Barcelona.
Can also recommend the Fat bike tour, which we did one day, takes about 4 hours but plenty of stops and saw different bit of the city than we saw on the sightseeing buses.

Room Tip: When I booked 4 years ago reviews said to ask for room above 4th floor due to possible noise from me...

We recently stayed at the Jazz Hotel post cruise for 3 nights. We were a family of 7 people so we had 2 double rooms and a triple. Overall, we had a very good stay here and would recommend this hotel. We found the hotel to be very clean and well maintained. The beds were huge and reasonably comfortable. Two of our rooms were located on the 3rd floor and one on the eighth. The rooms on the third floor were street facing and did experience a bit of noise from the street below but nothing that kept us awake during the night. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, so I can't comment on that. The triple room was very spacious for a European hotel and being a corner room, it had 4 windows which made it nice and bright. The hotel is in an excellent location and it was easy to walk most everywhere. Most of the staff were great - very friendly, professional and helpful which is what I had expected after reading the reviews for the Jazz Hotel prior to booking. Unfortunately, there was one lady at the front desk who less than welcoming. She happened to be the person who checked us in on arrival so did not give a very good first impression. We thought perhaps she might have just been having a bad day, but she continued to be unfriendly and "put out" by any question or request throughout our stay. If not for her, we would have rated the hotel five stars. Overall, a very good place to stay in Barcelona and we thought excellent value for dollar spent.
