“Great location great hotel”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

We arrived very early as we had to disembark by 8 am the hotel staff was great they checked our bags, told us they would store our valuables and passport in the hotel safe until our room was ready they gave us maps, bad ice. Sold us a discount tickets to six museums of which we went to three. The room is great with a balcony overlooking Catalonia square. The staff speaks perfect English. The bathroom comes supplied with razors combs etc
I highly recommend this small boutique hotel in a grat location

Room Tip: We got a high floor with a balcony

I recently took my mum for a mid-week break to celebrate her birthday. I had read many mixed reviews about the hotel but was extremely happy with the service we received.

We arrived mid evening and the check in procedure was smooth and efficient. We were welcomed warmly and our twin room, on the first floor, was perfectly sized. Yes, it's true that the wooden floors have a few scratches on them, but that's only from a lifetime of travellers hauling trolley cases over them! Our only gripe with the room is that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, nor any way of renting such a facility.

The hotel's lounge is very white in decor (sofas, floors, pictures), and it is well used by guests and local people, which made it an interesting place to sit and relax during the evening. The evening food menu is limited, but perfectly adequate for a snack. The cocktails are good and, at €10, averagely priced.

The breakfast selection is not huge, but is well prepared. Usual amount of pastries, yoghurt, fruit, break, cake, bacon and eggs. I got breakfast included in the rate. Others have said that there is a cost of €25. If that is true, the I'd recommend not buying it, and would seek breakfast from the many cafés which surround the hotel.

We took a private transfer from the airport, but the transfer bus stops in Placa Catalunya which is less than 5 mins from the hotel's front door. The hotel is central to the heart of the city, has good transportation links and all in all was very pleasant.

All in all, a very good hotel which was perfect for our needs. I would definitely stay there again and would have no hesitation in trying this chain's other properties either.

The location is great, the hotel is modern and the rooms are super clean and moderate in size. It was easy to both walk or take the metro to key areas of the city. I would definitely recommend it and also would consider another stay there.

We stayed at Hotel Pulitzer October 31-Nov 3rd, 2013. Upon arrival, we were greeted at check in by Sergio who was eager to answer questions, provide directions and give suggestions re dining, including the hotel bar/cafe, etc.

The hotel is in a great location a block from Placa De Catalunya and the FINAC bookstore and easy walk to anywhere with perhaps the exception of La Sagrada Familia. However, cabs are so plentiful and reasonable throughout Barcelona that I don't believe we ever waited more than 1 minute for a taxi.

The hotel's breakfast offered a high quality variety of choices. We ate in the hotel's bar/cafe 2 evenings. Julia, Jenny and an intern named Tessa were extremely attentive and the food and wine were terrific.

Our room while not enormous, was well appointed, very clean and functional.

We did encounter two elements that were problematic.
First, the internet service in our second floor was terrible and exceptionally annoying. It not only had a very erratic signal strength, it would frequently disconnect. Wi-Fi in the lobby was somewhat more stable but not terrific. This is an issue that can and should be corrected.

The second issue was the location of our room on level 2 which overlooked the entry to the hotel. As a results, we were greeted daily at 4AM with loud noises from the garbage collector.

Except for the internet issue, based upon our experience, this property earned solid 4 star rating and we would certainly chose it again.

We stayed at Hotel Pulitzer for four nights in September 2013. Not only is this a beautiful hotel- great decor, stylish and large rooms, with a great rooftop bar and breakfast- the staff are fantastic! They took the time to answers any questions and explain how to get to all the various and fantastic sites Barcelona has to offer. The hotel itself is in a great location- just down from Catalunya Square where the site-seeing buses have stops- a great way to see the city- not to mention great shops, bars and restaurants! Loved the rooftop terraces with great cocktails and tapas! Would highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to return!

After traveling in Spain for 2 weeks, my fiancee and I were looking forward to a chic and lovely 4 night stay at Hotel Pulitzer to cap the end of our travels. We even cancelled our nights at Hotel Omm nearby to stay here. This was a huge mistake.

The first issue was we booked a nice suite room, to find out that it was just two double beds pushed together. I understand this happens in Europe a fair bit, but for the amount of money we were spending and nights we were staying I didn't think this was acceptable, nor did it say that was the type of room we were getting. When we asked to change rooms to an actual King size bed, the gentleman behind the counter seemed quite annoyed and bothered. Then moved us to the second floor right in front of the elevator, pretty sure he did this in spite of us. And despite the huge gross stain on the headboard, we took it.

Every night we heard the ding of the elevator opening and the walls were so thin, the couple next to us yelling at 3am was also a fun treat.

We disliked it so much that we even thought about packing up and moving to another hotel. But being that it was the weekend coming up there was nothing great available.

Finally, on top of all this, when I asked about the designer guide book that comes complimentary when you book on their site, the guy at the desk seemed to not even know what I was talking about, proceeded by, we don't have anymore available, without even bothering to check. Luckily for me the hotel next door is a sister company to theirs, Hotel Regina, and I thought I would try to see if they had a copy I could buy from them. When I went in they were so friendly and even gave me two copies to have. Too bad the people at Hotel Pulitzer didn't have the common decently or customer service to call over themselves and ask. Unbelievable.

Their only saving grace was their room service staff is so polite, their room service prices good and food great. And lastly, their rooftop bar was gorgeous.

Other than that, I would strongly recommend not staying here unless you know the room you are getting is the best one they have, and even then, they are not friendly at all.

Room Tip: Book the best room they have or I suggest don't stay.

This boutique hotel was modern, well -equipped and located in the central part of Barcelona. It was within walking distance to all areas of the city. The desk staff was friendly, conscientious, helpful and knowledgable.
