“Great location”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

This hotel was decently priced and a great location- walking distance to La Ramblas and other main streets. The rooftop bar was nice and the food was light but good. Breakfast was on the expensive side for what I would compare to a hotel breakfast here but it was all very fresh and tasted good. The beds were comfortable and the shower was nice. The shower took a little bit of guess and test to keep water from flowing out on the floor. I would stay here again... Overall very good quality for the price... Didn't hurt that Starbucks was around the corner!

Rooms are nice, decorated but the desk is to small to work by. The overall design is fancy, modern and good. Breakfast is very good. We rented bikes from the hotel while staying there, and touring Barcelona by bike in the spring sun was fantastic.

I'd never been to Barcelona before but the hotel got good reviews in terms of facilities and location both of which I found to be true. Its a nice walk from quite a few of the central attractions but also well linked with the metro and buses. However before we even arrived the customer service was impeccable...I managed to organise a lovely birthday breakfast and dinner by email ahead of the trip. When we arrived our room was a nice size and stylishly decorative with little touches like a woman and mans bathroom box containing foot cream and toothbrushes etc. Breakfast was good and booking three weeks in advance meant it was included in the room rate. Would happily return. Only gripe was the pillows - bed was lovely but the pillows not supportive enough

The hotel is offering "drunch" - lunch/dinner combo with tapas and a Bloody Mary at weekends. The day I went with a group of friends the service was non-existent. The two waitresses did not come to clear the table that the previous diners had left messy, nor did they come to take our order. We went to the bar to order and then the food came ages afterwards. The waitresses needed reminding to get the order right. All in all, the service was very poor, slow, unprofessional considering it is a 4 star hotel.

I think this sums it up, Hotel Pulitzer is beauty in its simplest form.

Beautiful and elegance must be a decomposition of complex into its simplest form.

That is what I experienced at the Hotel Pulitzer, which epitomized the attempt of the last few decades of deconstructing the complexity of elegance that we have inherited from decades of human complexity, towards simplicity. It has assumed simple form yet providing elegant beauty.

The lobby was minimalist as you walk into an obscure small street parallel and juxtaposed the noisy Las Ramblas and the Passeig de Gracia.

Across the small street is a comfort food Chinese restaurant and an imposing old elaborate structure that must have been a symbol of power back in the days.

My room was situated on the the 3rd floor. Each floor offered a hallway that carved an atrium that allowed you to look below at the lobby bar and small reception. The single room was not generously large but ample enough for a single person that expected to stay for 2 days or more. The closet space amazing for European standards! The bathroom was clean and minimalist modern. Slated floors with German and Italian finish decorated with subtle lights. I liked the turn of the century with modern twist accents in the room as in the lamp, chairs and such.

The window overlooks the small street as one absorbs the murmuring to loud jovial sounds of the bustling energy of the Las Ramblas gentry resonate.

The location is GREAT.

The service is good - amazing reception, ok-ok Bar service, certain waitress staff think they are on top of the world, but give them a break (after all, they are a struggling underdog of the EU nation group).

The reception - I should repeat - GREAT .... they were nice to look the other way, when one evening a Catalan "friend" stopped over for a visit, when normally in European hotels it is simply taboo.

I stayed at the Pulitzer during the Christmas Eve to Christmas Day period of 2012, it was a good experience all in all.

I had a nice memory and a nice taste of the "local flavor".

I went with friends to test the new drunch (comibination of lunch and dinner) offer of Hotel Pulitzer. The lobby where the brunch is served is nice, and so is the food. The drunch comes with different types of Bloody Mary. Unfortunately the barkeeper forgot the ice in all the drinks.
The service, though, was horrible. The two girls that were supposed to be "waitresses" or whatever just had no clue. We sat half an hour on a table which was a mess. There was also money lying on the table from former clients. After half an hour I carried the money to the waitress, she thanked and asked if I wanted the change.... I asked her for menu cards. Since she did not come to our table for 15 minutes, I decided to play waitress (to the joy of my friends) and took all orders on a piece of paper, which I handed then to the waitress. She took the paper without any comment. I asked her if she could clean our table, which took another 15 minutes. Half an hour later the tapas and drinks came, without any comment whatsoever. In all this time the waitress passed our table several times without taking any notice of us. We were not greeted, and no one said goodbye.... Obviously the staff was totally untrained, and there was no director or supervisor present..... Never again.

We stayed here recently for what was supposed to be only a two night stay however we were so impressed, not only with the hotel, but with Barcelona itself that we ended up staying an extra night and would have been longer except that we had to move on.The hotel is situated in a great location readily accessible to shopping areas, places to eat and within walking distance of many sights. The foyer of this hotel reminded us of being in a private house. The furniture has been placed so that it appears to be a series of intimate living rooms. The furniture, the artworks, the flowers were positioned so that the area felt cosy and welcoming- We found the rooms to be extremely comfortable - the bed was huge and the linens used felt luxurious. The bathroom was wonderful- clean, spacious and the toiletries provided were plentiful and catered to every need. I especially liked the separate men's, womens' and shared boxes which were provided in the bathroom and which were replaced daily. Breakfast every morning was in a delightful area with an outdoor space which I imagine would be well used on warmer days. Parking in the nearby carpark was easily accessible and is discounted which was a bonus. We would definitely stay here again .

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the street.
