Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya
Ranked #98 of 513 Hotels in Barcelona

This hotel has all the big hotel vibes but is clean, functional and most important for us is over the road from Barcelona Sants and close to the bus station for the Andorra bus. The welcome cocktail was a nice touch. The room and in particular the bathroom was large. The jug so you could make a cup of tea / coffee was something unusual for a European hotel and much appreciated. Having to negotiate the smokers to get in the front door was not nice.

My partner and I recently returned from a 3 night break in Barcelona. I chose this hotel for the facilities and quality of the room. Even before arriving I had excellent communication with the staff , and i was able to arrange for some chocolates with strawberries , champagne and flowers to be left in the room on our arrival as a surprise for my partner. The hotel also arranged for a shuttle to collect us from the airport which only involved a 25 minute wait , and was much cheaper than using the taxi. The staff were very attentive on arrival and throughout our stay. The room was very nice and the view was stunning , looking ahead towards the MNAC,Olympic Stadium and the magic fountain. The room was clean and spacious and we had all the facilities we could need including a decent shower room and toiletries , combs , spare toothbrushes etc . There was a minibar and you could have food brought to your room but we didn't use either of these as they were expensive . Breakfast and dinner is served on the top floor in the Visual restaurant . if you stay at this hotel then eating here is a must at least once because the view is fantastic. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of hot and cold options , and plenty of variety. We loved the location , opposite is Sants station and the Parc de L'Espanya . Around the corner along Carrer de Tarragona there are plenty of nice places to eat , which have much cheaper prices than the touristy spots like La Ramblas etc ,or you can walk to the bullring 'La Monumental' which is now a shopping centre with plenty of nice restaurants ,
and great views from the top . The walk takes less than 10 minutes . Best of all in the evening you can walk another 5 minutes from here and you can view the 'Magic Fountain' display . The MNAC and Olympic Stadium are also within walking distance of the hotel . The Bus Turistic stops across the road from Sants station and you can purchase tickets at the hotel reception. We both had a wonderful time and we would love to stay at this hotel again . Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Executive and suites are on the higher floors and have amazing views.

Take the upgrade room! When we had problems with our first two rooms, we were upgraded to the higher level floors with a nice view facing NW. The hotel staff were sincerely interested in making our stay great. The rooms on the other side (maybe another upgrade?) had a view of downtown Barcelona and the Magic Fountain just blocks from the hotel.
Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya is close to the train station to get into Barcelona and a reasonable walk to a multi-line Metro station so with some travel you could get around Barcelona. It would have been a great location to hop to towns outside of the city. We found little good food choices close by so we had to either travel or scramble to find something. It was a good spot to relax before we packed and moved to the next city. The business centre was helpful for getting our boarding documents printed.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the highest floors, west side gets you, a terrific view of train station, sunsets over ci...

My husband and I have recently returned from a three night break in Barcelona. We chose this hotel becuase of its facilities and good trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed.

The hotel could not have been easier to find. We caught a train direct from the station at the T2 Terminal, Barcelona Airport, and three stops later were at the Main train sation (Saints). Once you leave the station you cannot miss the hotel as it is the tallest one in the vicinity and immediately in front of you. This was ideal as it did not involve any further public transport.

The staff were very friendly and upon checking in we were offered the option of an upgrade for about 13 Euros a night. We were glad to have this opportunity as it meant having an Attic Room on the 20th floor with two massive picture windows overlooking the city from two sides of the room. It was a large room with a large and comfortable bed. The bathroom was amazing, with his and hers sinks, massive walk in shower, bath, toilet and bidet. We also had bath robes and slippers, which was a nice touch.

Probably our only criticism is that being so far up it was a very warm room and although we had the air conditionaing on all night, it still did not seem to cool the room down that much.

The breakfast was very good with a huge amount of choice, so something there for everyone really and the restaurant staff were very attentive. The view from the "Visual" restaurant was spectacular as it was a panoramic view on the top (23rd) floor.

We would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher up the better.

The location was fairly ideal. It wasn't a far ride from Ramblas and right next to the train station. The staff was excellent and the rooms incredibly clean. Didn't get to experience the spa unfortunately. Definitely recommend this hotel!

This high rise hotel is perfectly situated next to the Sants railway station with easy access to the airport, every half hour (cost €3.80 each). You have to buy the tickets from machines within 2 hours of travel. There is also a reasonably priced cafe in station. Across the square from the hotel is also a metro station, Sans Estacio, from where you can get to anywhere in the city (you can buy a T10 ticket which will give you 10 journeys for €9.80 or 5 journeys for 2 people). There is also a bus station across the road from where you can pick up the city tour buses that I highly recommend.
We stayed on 16th floor and were in a corner room that gave great views of the city down to the port. Large room with comfy bed and choice of pillows. Bath and separate walk in shower and loo behind a glass door in the bathroom with a full range of toiletries and other useful items for travellers - dental kit, shaving kit, comb, shower cap and a few others. The mirror in the bathroom also has a heated section to stop it misting up. Fridge/minibar in room and tea/coffee making facilities, also free wi-fi. Reception staff speak good English and were helpful. To sum up we had everything we needed and more and location was fantastic. They seem to have thought of everything with this hotel so get on and book it :-)

Just returned from 3 nights at this hotel, before arriving at the hotel, we asked for a quiet room on a high floor, and sure enough on arriving at the hotel our requests had been received and we had a twin room on the 14th floor with a double aspect view (1402) it was lovely and quiet and the views spectacular. It is located right opposite the train station from the airport and easy to use, as are the metros and cheaper than the buses. We were a twenty minute walk away from the magic fountains which are well worth visitng, however are only on a Friday and Saturday between 7.00-9.00. And it is packed. Also went on the tourist bus for 2 days, cannot beat this for a trip round the whole of Barcelona. Weather was also in the high 20's. All in all a fantastic trip for me and my mom, will be going again...

Room Tip: We had room 1402 on 14th floor away from the lift, and quiet.
