I did read some very bad reviews about this hotel and I was very apprehensive, but we had booked it so I had to stay there. But I was very pleasantly surprised to find it not as bad (not even near as bad) as the reviews. Its a very basic hotel. The rooms were clean and the size was not bad at all. At the price charged, the location is absolutely fantastic. Agreed its noisy and walls are thin, but after a long days site seeing and partying you hardly notice it. About the questionable area, we did not see any "night ladies" right in front of the hotel. Probably they are around the corner from the hotel, but one does not necessarily have to take that street to approach the hotel. There is a bar outside the hotel so there was a crowd (men and women both) in the square. We were three ladies and none of us felt unsafe. All in all its a noisy but basic good value for money place to spend the night.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in
Shabby location , worst rooms smelling bad even 1 star is too much for this kind of hotel
Everyone around the hotel kept on saying just stay away from streets as there might be some mishappenings related to theft and all
At night there were ruckus all around hotel created mostly by Asian population around
Scary hotel to live in

Our room was clean but facing a small dark courtyard so felt very dingy, you could hear noise from the hall and other rooms all night, toilets flushing and doors slamming. Staff friendly, area a bit questionable, a lot of ladies of the night and their 'men' hanging around near the hotel but never caused any problems or bothered us. It was in the Raval area and very close to Las Ramblas. We had breakfast one morning it was choice of croissant and toast and coffee and orange juice. A bit expensive for EUR 5 each in my opinion. Go to the market and have breakfast, fantastic experience. We got a very cheap last minute deal, but if you can afford to pay more, I would suggest to pay more and stay elsewhere.
