We stayed in this hotel whilst visiting Barcelona with a car. I was concerned about the security of the vehicle and wanted to park it safe for two days whilst we visited the city by foot and metro.
The hotel was hard to find by road as the signage is non-existent and the surrounding buildings are taller than the hotel so you cannot see the name at a distance. You certainly cannot see the hotel from C. Collblanc. Find the petrol station and it is second left, city bound.
Watch out for the one way system further down Collblanc as this can get you lost if you drive down to far. Spanish postcodes are not precise so Sat Nav. fails you I'm afraid!
It cost 20 euros a day to park which seems steep but is par for the course in this city. The car park was underground with lots of space and very secure and I felt reassured with this arrangement.
The hotel was a typical business hotel with good rooms and facilities close to Collblanc metro station for getting into the city at reasonable cost and getting into town didn't take long.
In walking distance of Camp Nou FC Barco - the football ground - which my son enjoyed; this place is a modern pilgrimage site I wonder if more people visit the football stadium than Santiago d Compostella these days!!
Check in was really seriously slow, painful, when you book by internet why does all the data have to be keyed in yet again?
The staff levels in the hotel impacted on service levels; everything seemed to take for ever and you even had to queue to ask a simple questions; very frustrating.
The staff were fine, it is just there were not enough of them; which the management need to address as it is not fair on both their staff and their customers; but when you could speak to someone it was fine and they were helpful and did their best.
The room was not ready even at 15.00 and the low levels of chamber maid staff created delays that all clients arriving seemed to being subjected to. Make a request wait an hour and then ask again. We needed a third bed made up it took them three/four hours to get their act together.
WIFI failed to work on a mobile device and it is a bit archaic a system which was disappointing.
Looked at the evening buffet for 20+ euros or so per head and decided against it. Went outside the hotel to a small parade opposite and found "Mario's Bar" and had the best meal of the holiday there, excellent costing 38 euros for three of us; a significant saving on the hotels over priced and uninspiring food offering. Same goes for breakfast.
If visiting Barcelona with a car will probably stay here again. Just employ a few more people and this would be a better experience for the client. When you go there do try Mario's you won't be disappointed.
