“downtown Barcelona”

The hotel is very conveniently located. It is clean. The staff are professional, helpful, cheerful and speak good English. The inconveniences are the noise from the street on the weekend nights, and the fact that Wifi is available only in the lobby. Considering the ease of transport on the Metro, it might be better to stay in a quieter neighbourhood (at a better price) and commute. I would not recommend it for people who have to get work done while in town. But it was a good enough choice for a first holiday in Barcelona.

Poorly decorated, dirty and tiny rooms. Staff not interested in resolving problems. Breakfast was cheap food. Didn't feel safe using the hotel. Couldn't wait to leave.

Hotel in need of renovation. It stands on a six lane road and doesn't have double glazing. It is also near fire, police and ambulance so it was constant traffic and sirens going all night! The room we had was large with a balcony overlooking the road. It also caters for parties of students who run riot even when told to behave. Breakfast was good and the reception staff brilliant - nothing was too much trouble. The area around the hotel and on the route to Ramblas is a bit rough with lots of winos sleeping rough. Would definitely not stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the back of the hotel

The Hotel for starters is 2 star... does exactly what it says on the tin. its basic. But it has what you need from a cheap hotel. We had 41 people in our group, spread across a number of rooms. Mine was a 4 bed on the top (8th) floor, which was very spacious, had a balcony, en-suite with a bidet. The shower was very good however if you like to have a bath then look elsewhere, as the bath was cut in half to save space in some rooms I saw.

Location is brilliant, restaurant on the doorstep was very good and friendly. Tube stations nearby. View from the rear of the hotel sees the sagrada familia.

Some of the group complained about noise at night, myself personally slept peacefully every night, (few beers and a night cap in the restaurant on the doorstep before bed) plus the top floor only has 3 rooms on it so the noise there is minimal.

Room Tip: Book for 3/4 people, ask for top floor (8th) you'll love it.

We have just spent a week here. Prepaid for double rooms and was given twins which would have been cheaper. We were offered a double but the room was so tiny with an awful outlook so we accepted the twins. the hotel wasn't in a very nice part of the city but was convenient for getting around. We got to see five rooms and all were very scruffy, bathrooms especially. We didn't have a plug in ours and when I requested one the receptionist said she didn't have one, neither did she have a key for the safe in our room. The TV didn't work and the hair-dryer fell to bits when taken off the hook but it did work. A tap in one of the bathrooms wouldn't turn off so the sound of constant trickling water had to be put up with. The curtains are ripped but are taped up with gaffer tape. the towels were threadbare but clean and changed daily. The matresses are past there best. A maggot was on my bed when I first arrived and where it came from is still a mystery. Although the stay wasn't the best and we would never return or recommend it to anyone we got through and enjoyed the city.

Room Tip: Didn't see any that looked any better than ours. The inner rooms have the air con units whirring...

I liked Auto Hoggar. It is very close to La Rambla, about 5-600 m walk on Carrer Nou de la Rambla. It was clean, towels changed every day.Not so noisy as described in the previous comments even if we stayed in a room at the street. The breakfast was basic but enough for a morning meal. The staff was very friendly, they reccomended us a local tapas bar "Can Eusebio" very close to the hotel. That was quite ok,good and cheap food/drinks and we eate there a few times paying for two around 30 euro including wine and tips.Another option is the restaurant/caffeteria right next to the hotel with more sofisticated menus but still acceptable prices.

Room Tip: rooms with double beds are bigger and higher floors offer a nice view on av. Parallel
