“Is it a Hostal or a Hotel? Either way it Stinks, Literally”

I stayed here as part of an EF Tour I was a traveler on. It's located outside of the city of Barcelona and it a 20-30 trip into the city by Tram and Metro. Wehen we arriced they took our Passports, which was a little shady to say the least. They ended up making copies of all the passports then the next time we left they gave them back. They gave use a real key on a rather large keychain. They didn't explain to us first that when you leave you must frop the key off at the front desk and then retieve it when you return.

The room was small, but functional, but there was No Smoking signed everywhere and even a ashtray in the room with a no smoking sign in in, odd of course, and guess what. The room reaked of smoke and the blanket on the bed even had burn holes in it. The fan in the room didn't work, luckily the windows open and I enjoyed the cool breeze that flows through the city. The wi-fi was shoddy and required a new pass code every 24 hours.

I hoep EF stops using this hotel. It's in a decent location just outside Barcelona, but the rooms need updated and new spreads on the beds. Everyroom smelled like smoke.

Theycall it a hostel but Lami is really a budget hotel. rooms are spartan but very clean. All staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. My friend and i are both recently retired so we stayed a month.Plenty of time to discover Lami's bad points. In all honesty, there were none.Sure it could be a tad noisy but nothing to worry about.Breakfast though never varying was a complete joy.Cereals, fresh fruit, cold meats cheese bread, rolls and pastries were in abundance as were fruit juices tea and coffee. All good quality.Location IS way out of town but a 3min. walk takes you too Pont D'Esplugues tram stop where any of the frequent trams will take you 7 stops to Palau Reial near to Camp Nou, where you literally fall into the metro. 11 stops and you are in Placa de Catalunya, the centre of Barcelona.A single journey costs 2 euros,Best deal depending on length of stay is T50 ticket for 39 euros. You can change lines as many times as you need within 1hr 15 min. From Lami journey time is approx 40 min. All tickets can be bought at metro stations or tram stops,L3 line from Palau Reial stops at lots of good sights.Placa D'Espanya(bull ring centre,Expo buildings and Montjuic Hill for Fort and Olympic stadium).Liceu(la rambla) Drassanes( Port vell harbour and maremagnum centre)and Passaig de Gracia for 2 Gaudi gems Casa Battlo & La Pedrera.La Sagrada has it's own metro stop on L5 line And don't miss Parca guell A 15 min walk from Lesseps metro on L3 also.Another very pleasant day can be spent at tibidabo overlooking all of Barca.L7 from Catalunya takes you to the bottom of the hill, which is then accessed by vintage tram and finally 100 year old finicular,Well worth the effort,There is a magnificent church and vintage funfair to reward you at the peak. There are magnificent beaches at cuitadella on theL4 line.Nearby is a magnificent park and barca's zoo.Dont waste your money on the cross harbour cable car.At 10 euros each it's a rip off,They cram people on and if you are in the centre of the car you will see nothing,You will see as much from magnificent montjuic fort which is also accessed by bus from Placa D'espanya near the metro station.Out of town there is must see day trip fromD'espanya low level station to Montserrat which is an hour away.i promise you this is an unforgettable day, tickets are 26 euros and include all mountain finiculars and an audio visual show. There is no end of good things to see in Barca,Eating out is a joy. Many tourist deals are available but beware when ordering drinks.IF you don't state a size they will bring you a massive drink which will cost nearly as much as your meal.Barter in the souvenir shops, It's amazing how the prices will tumble if you are dogged. Best restaurants we found were rossini's in Placa reial just off la rambla near drassanes and harbour and Dunne's Irish pub facing Jaume 1 on L4 metro.Barcelona is both wonderful and beautiful. this is a long but i hope helpful review and i am tired now.Easy answer, go find out for yourself, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: ask for rear facing room to cut out traffic noise

It is indeed a hotel that offers nothing but the basics. The rooms are clean, but your sleep will be disturbed by a bed that isn't comfortable, hard pillows, an electricity unit in the room that makes knocking noises every hour (loud enough to wake you up) plus all the noise from the rest of the building: Other guests flushing their toilets, unpacking, moving a chair, walking, the elevator moving etc.

The location is far from the center of Barcelona (you likely know that already), but what is worse is that public transporation isn't accessible since it is very far to the excellent metro of Barcelona. Instead you have to try to understand a complex combination of buses and trams to get out of Esplugues - or take you to the airport.

Wifi is included, but is slow.

Breakfast is not included, but comes for 5 EUR. It is a very continential breakfast offered: Everything is sweetened and if you're out for some vegetables, you will not find even a slice of tomato.

A good price would compensate for the lack of anything extra and for the location. During Mobile World Congress, kept every year in Barcelona, any hotel can get customers and Hostel Lami is likely not charging anything close to the 100 EUR per night I had to pay for a single room (claimed to be a double; well then you both need to be small). I can't judge if the value for money is better during the rest of the year, but would still recommend you to look for something else - especially if you travel privately. Try to find something along the metro lines instead if you want to find something more reasonably prices that in the city center.

Lami is more of a 3 star hotel. Very clean, quiet and very good location close to highway and 5 mins. from the airport. Free wifi is available but is very slow. Hostal Lami is actually in Esplugues de Llobregat which is a Barcelona suburb. You have about 6 km to Plaza Espana which is not bad.

Room Tip: There's a "blue parking zone" behind the hostal which is free from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Not an option if your plans are to visit downtown Barcelona. You can find thousands of closer options. It was my second stay at this hotel (it's a hotel, not a hostel) and once again I was pleased. Very professional and helpful staff. Expect room quality of a 2 star hotel.

This isn't a 'hostel', it's a two-star hotel. Its prices vary by season but can be very good value. My room was fine with a desk, toilet, shower that worked, blackout that eliminated the street noise and the room was cleaned well. The beds and bedding were comfortable and clean, and changed once during a six-day stay. The TV received Catalan, Spanish and German channels well, but Swiss-French and BBC 24 were fuzzy.

There are vending machines for drinks and cigarettes, and it is attached to the bar '280' if you want breakfast, drinks or meals. Staff are friendly and professional.

Its location is in Esplugues, 7.5km from the centre. If you wish to avoid a taxi from the airport, take the L77 bus instead to its terminus at St Joan (€2), about 40 minutes, then it's ten minutes walk; or get off at Cornella (30 minutes) and take the tram to Pont d'Esplugues from where it's about a three minute walk.

When going to the centre of Barcelona, walk three minutes to the Pont d'Esplugues tram stop, take any tram, which operates every five minutes, to Palau Real, then take the Metro L3. This stops at the main tourist sites in Barcelona. If you have a T-10 or T-Dia ticket it counts as one journey.

Esplugues itself is a friendly, pleasant place with lots of nice bars and sometimes live music on festivals.
