The location is great; just 5 minutes walk from the metro station Sant Pau. and close to the Sagrada Familia as well. I stayed in a twin room with my friend, and I must say that the room was not very spacious. However, the bathroom looked great and clean. Adequate charging points for your cameras/cell phones. Laundry service available, though we never used it. 24 hour checkout service.
Tip: please add a refrigerator.
Overall: Great choice for short stays

I stayed here one night. It was a good location for downtown, and I was happy with all aspects of the hotel. Though breakfast was not worth having at the hotel. There was nothing amazing about this place, but it provided everything I wanted in a place to stay.

Fantastic hotel.Would highly recommend The Medicis. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is small, modern and the rooms are compact, comfy and clean. The bathroom is very nice with a great shower and most or all the rooms have a small balcony.
The feel of the area around the hotel is that you are amongst locals with no other tourists which is nice.We asked for advice at reception and were given a map and shown how to get to the nearest bus stop, metro etc and also told about a lovely little bakery/cafe round the corner in which you could get a coffee and crossiant for less than 2 euros.
The Medicis is located yards from Hospital de la Santa Creu Sant Pau and 5-10 mins walk from Sagrada Familia.
There are plenty of places to eat close to the hotel, especially off Av de Gaudi,on the way to Sagrada Familia.
At reception you can pay some of the price of Barcelona city tour bus,get the tour brochure and map, then pay the rest on the bus.
I would suggest going to Hospital de Sau Pau,then walk down to Sagrada Familia, looking round it and then hop on the tour bus at stop 11 nearby.
Also a good tip is to buy the two day ticket which is good value and do the green route one day and the orange route the next.It is a hop on hop off so you can get off,see and do what you want then catch the next bus.
Thanks to The Medicis for your friendly and helpfull staff and delightful hotel.
Paul

overall everything about this hotel is quite small and compact, but saying that for a 3 or 4 night break is fine.the staff all over the hotel are very friendly and helpful.the breakfast fair choice and quite fresh coffee and orange nice .breakfast room quite small about 6 or 7 tables.reception is also on the small size, and the lift only holds 3 people maximum.rooms again very small with a very small balcony.but clean and tidy bedding room kept well clean and also bathroom and towels also.
faults are only minor apart from the walls are so thin you hear other peoples toilets being used among other things, wardrobe mirror was cracked at the bottom.and no back cover on tv remote.floor tile in bathroom broken and half missing.few dirty marks on the walls and tv ariel socket hanging out of the wall covered over by a rubbish bin.big minus point trffic noise outside very noisy.

Room Tip: few rooms at the rear would be poor view, front view rooms okay but traffic noise very loud

We chose this place for its location not far from La Sagrada Familia Temple and close to an underground station. Also there's a bus stop at the door of the hotel so it makes it easy to move around Barcelona.
The hotel doesn't have any spectacular feature but it's worth the money you pay for the service you get. Being a low-average three-star hotel the service and food (breakfast) is appropiate. The rooms (the one we had) are en-suite but not very spacious. The good thing, for sun lovers, is that they have a solarium at the rooftop with a hose/shower if you get overheated.
If you're looking for big rooms and fantastic breakfast don't go there, otherwise it's perfect for a non-fussy person...like us!

I got a doble room for 64 euros (with nice breakfast buffet for two persons included). Nice people at desk, clean hotel. The room was not very big but more that enough, mine had two twins placed together instead of queen size. Bathroom very complete and clean. Good air condicioned and wifi connection (for free). Quiet area, 10 minutes walk to La sagrada Familia and many restaurants in Gaudi Av. Metro station just 2 minutes walking.

Room Tip: Check with desk the kind of double room you get (twins or double bed)

It's a very nice hotel with very friendly and supportive staff, comfortable rooms and good breakfast. Location is perfect, very close to Sagrada Familia Cathedral, and in only 5 minutes walk to a metro station. Another great attraction in the neighborhood is San Pau Hospital which is a structure of unbelievable beauty. The area is very quiet and calm in spite of the fact that it is close to the centre. Another great thing is that there are a lot of food shops, small cafes and bakeries around which work till late at night, and a very nice small cafe just inside the hotel building.

So, all possible recommendations to those who choose it. One small disadvantage - no kettle inside the room.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid of the street side - actually, very little amount of noise from there.
