“Definetely worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2012 via mobile

What I love most about Barcelonata is the lively atmosphere. Hundreds of people visiting and enjoying the area everyday. It is lovely in the afternoons when you visit the beach and have a couple of drinks.

“One of my favourite parts of Barcelona.”

Old school fishing community. Lovely locals. Go a couple of blocks off the main drag and find yourself a 'scruffy' bar/restaurant and you'll probably have the tastiest seafood at a sensible price in you life.

sunny day here was a great way to end my trip. it was crowded (Sunday) but enjoyable. Just find a place to sit down and watch the people in the sun.

“Nice relaxing point.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

We visited Barceloneta twice during our visit.

The weather was always sunny and warm, so the beach was full of people (but not overly crowded) relaxing, sunbathing playing beach volleyball and soccer. It was lovely!
The water was still cold, so there was only about 3 or 4 people in the water. The water was very clean and clear, regarding the fact that this is a sandy beach, and that there is a dock nearby.

We loved the fact that there were so many volleyball and soccer playgrounds on the beach, and that every once in a while there was a free public toilet.
There are also showers, so you can wash off the sand on your feet. There are also some bars.

Barceloneta is a lovely place to relax, we loved it! The only downsides were:
- the fact, that there is no shade (it must be extremely hot in the summer with nowhere to hide),
- there was a couple of sellers bothering us (asian woman offering massages, people bothering you if you want to buy beer etc.), but to be honest, we expected more of those. And they went away pretty quickly, so that's a plus.
- the beach is not for you, if you hate sandy beaches. But there is a path next to it (I think it's wooden?), so you can still stroll by without having to step on the sand.

“NIce area to relax”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2012

Towards the end of the afternoon it is a good place to go for a drink next to the beach and do some people watching and relaxing. There are also many restaurants in the area to continue on for dinner. You almost feel that you are out of the city.
