Overall the beaches at Barceloneta are well maintained. There are lots of restaurants, bars and chiringuitos to have a meal, snack or just relax and have a long drink or beer enjoying the sun and the sea. There are areas for sport and keep fit fanatics. It gets extremely busy during the summer months and at weekends, where a lot of locals unwind there too.
A couple of negative things to point out.
The 'manteros' take up a large space on the promenade, peddling their counterfeit wares. Do not buy from these people. They are not licensed and the goods they sell are of poor quality (knock off handbags, trainers, football shirts and large cotton patterned blankets to sit on the beach, plus cheap souvenirs. Also the drinks guys that plague the beach, walking up and down, selling mojitos, beer, water. They are illegal too and the quality of their products are not good. Read local newspaper articles about these people and you would not buy a drink from them. Take your own or go to one of the many bars and cafes. Yes they may be a few euros more but you are paying for the view and the location.

This beach is very nice and clean. There are a lot of people, on thousand! Good for walking or enjoying in sun and sea.

There is no lack of entertainment on this beach from the nudist who thought it as parade day to school children playing in the surf.

The beach goes what it seems like is for miles. The beach is nice (when you live Hawaii beaches are hard to beat), the water was warmish for October, small surf, great spot for paddling and plenty of vendors selling towels and batik.

A great variety of restaurants and bars line the sand. If you don’t feel like walking a pedi cab will take you back to the harbor or Gothic quarter.

When you are in a city like Barcelona you really like the beach and it is impressive, quite clean and infrastructure wise ok. Are there nicer city beaches: yes, there are as well.

Nice beach but very crowded. It is better to go 20-30 minutes and find someting more far away in a quiet place

Nice place for a stroll. On the day we visited the weather was not that sunny. As it was a national holiday the beach and promenade were busy with locals roller blading, surfing, cycling and like us enjoying a brisk walk with a scenic back drop.

The sea was cool but the sand was soft and pleasant.
There were a number of cafes and restaurants and public toilets.
Imagine in summer it would be extremely busy. There were beach pedlars selling towels and sunglasses etc but they were not too pushy.

A wonderful beach with very friendly people from every walk of life. The restaurants were incredible along the beach as well as the nightclubs. A very good place to relax and enjoy the sun and sand.

A really lovely and clean beach. Great bars and restaurants along the boardwalk. We visited in Nov and walked from Port Vell to Barceloneta.

Very nice atmosphere and energy at this beach. Cllose to some restaurants.
Amazing sunsets!
You can work out, go for a swim, a run, or a nice match of beach volleyball!
