It is located centrally. The building it's located in is quite bleak but I guess that is part of the price. The hostel itself is very brightly decorated. There were however endless rules, signs and the extra costs added up so much as to bump up the price. We had to pay for each family member to use the kitchen even on the day we just made a cup of tea. We were charged quite a lot to leave our bags, which was free everywhere else we went ( as were the kitchens). It was quiet which suited us but if you are looking for somewhere a bit buzzy this is not the place.

Because there are excellent rules such as: No smoking, no noise after 11PM, etc, everything goes well for ALL guests. Our hostess and host, Nuria and Mario, treated us like family. The rooms are small but well-designed/maintained as is the entire establishment, from the baths to the kitchen to the reception area, to the computer room. Laundry service(loved that), tourist advice, fast internet, and a wonderful location near Barcelona's marina and the El Born section filled with some of Barcerlona's most charming shops, cafes, and bars(especially the one(Cava=.85Euro/per glass & food from 2.50Euro) just around the corner on Carre de la Reina Cristina and Bar El Born where a cafe con leche & pastry is 1.90Euro and a sandwich & small beer is 2.90Euro).

The owners seem to have a cleaning frenzy that has gone totally wild, everything that has not been recently cleaned and nicely organized is looked upon with suspicion and notes all over the hostel exclaim how dirty travellers are.

There are fines for staining the linen, the pillow cases, for taking showers over 7 minutes, smoking anywhere near the hostel building and for hanging around. This place is not meant to be a meeting ground, one person at the time might use the kitchen while surveilled by the owners so that all kitchen supplies get cleaned right away and there are no sofas or common rooms.

If you cannot stand dust and wish to be left alone this is a really good place to go, but if you want to have a memorable experience of your stay in Barca you better go somewhere else.

If you're gonna look for a nice residence at Barcelona, Pensión Palacio is best ! Don't expect a ***** Hotel, it is very tiny, just one bathroom, but the atmosphere is very pleasent!
