We came by accident as the place we were going to was closed. There was an excellent exhibition of mesopotamian artifacts. The upper floors were closed but looked very intersting with a well known sculptor in one gallery and photography in the other. The shop was very good and had some interesting articles to buy. An interesting high quality building, with excellent facilities. Check on the exhibitions before you go.

Caixa Forum is an exhibition hall that belongs to the main bank in Spain. Entrance is free and the building is beautiful, combining modern and old. The interest depends on the exhibitions that are being held at the moment, but taking a walk in the building and going up in the lift to the roof will give you a great view of the mountain of Montjuïc in front of it and the MNAC (Museum of Catalan art).

The Caixa Forum usually has some temporary exhibition as well as its own permanent collection. They are always of outstanding quality and make an effort to show photography or other artstic means, such as film, painting, cuisine, etc.. Perhaps the most amazing thing about Caixa Forum, both in Madrid as well as Barcelona, is the fact that they are entirely free and the exhibitions are always extensive and well done. I would always recommend trying to include a stop at the Caixa Forum whenever in Barcelona, particularly because there are never crowds to get inside.

I loved the caixa forum right down to its shop. Its open, free, airy and we got lucky as it featured a huge collection of Goya from the prado in madrid the week that we visited. over all a good experience.
