Wow. Do take a taxi ride. The location offers beautiful views of Barcelona but more importantly, an excellent collection of works by Catalan and Spanish artists of the 13 to 16 centuries.we did not have time to see the modern collection!

“Gorgeous Building, Great Views but Limited Free Hours”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

I arrived here at 2pm on a Saturday, right before the free hours start at 3pm on Saturdays only. So I decided to relax, order a coffee and take in the amazing views of the city from the small square in front of the museum. The free hours started promptly at 3pm and while I was impressed by the excellent collection of Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque art, I was incredibly disappointed that the sections featuring the modern masters like Picasso and Miró were closed during the free hours. I would have paid for the full ticket if I had known in advance or did some research instead of becoming entranced by the magnificent view. In any case, seeing the El Greco they had was worth the arduous trek up the steep Montjuïc via the tastefully concealed escalators leading up the hill from Plaça de Espanya to the museum. Nicely done, Barcelona.

“Unreal!”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

We climbed to the top and then to the bottom. You simply must take a picture at every level. The fountains and architecture alone make this a must do on your trip.
