“Beautiful building”

We didn't go into the museum but walked up to it and sat on the steps outsdie looking over the city for an hour. Cafe out at the front is quite expensive. Fantastic views.

“Stunning city views”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is worth a visit even if you do not go inside. Although, I found the exhibits worth the price.

The building is very nice and has spectacular views of the city, the fountain is also another great photo opportunity.

“Impressive building, stunning collection”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

A stop on the Bus Turistic Red Route we had pencilled in on the itinerary back in May. The stroll from the bus stop to the entrance is a treat in itself with views of Barcelona and down the Av Reina to Pl Espanya. The entrance is free for "jubilats" (Pensioners) and the young lady didn't even ask for I.D., just gave us tickets to a myriad of wonderful exhibits. We spent a few hours wandering the galleries full of art from the first century to the present day. The presentation in all areas was just first class and compares with any major museum we have seen.
We took time out at the cafe for coffee and cake, very reasonable prices and good quality.
This is certainly worth a return visit, you cannot take it all in on one pass! Loved it all.

“One of the great collections in Europe”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

This museum was so rich in Gothic, Romantic, Renaissance and Modern art that we returned for a second day. The huge old castle has been masterfully remodeled so that the galleries are well-lighted, spacious and calm. Good signage, though not all in English. The best food offerings are outside on the terrace in front overlooking Barcelona. The coffee bar inside is OK but windowless, and the fancy restaurant is preposterously pompous and overpriced, though in a lovely room. The large collection of precious and rare paintings and altarpieces from ruined medieval churches of the Pyrenees, preserved and mounted here, are breath-taking and unique.

“The view is worth the walk”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

The view from the museum is worth the visit. You see all of Barcelona. Ask for a family price / children 16 ^ under are free and students 8.50. The museum has some very interesting paintings and church artifacts. There are multiple exhibits, in a large space, so you feel like you've actually received value.

#Even if you are not into church history and paintings, take the walk, the view is amazing and there is a bar at the top.
