“everything we wanted”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

booked the hotel at the last minute for a long weekend away. Room was perfect for what we needed; comfortable bed, good quality bathroom, speedy room service. Didnt book room with breakfast as it seemed an expensive option, but there are plenty of local places to get a good breakfast at a reasonable price, so it wasnt a problem. The staff were excellent - very helpful and extreemly polite. As for locaiton, this hotel was perfect; right on the edge of the best parts of the city. We will return to Barcelona and will definitely stay at this hotel. The hotel does have a roof-garden, but it wasnt accessible when we stayed, which was a shame.

Room Tip: we didnt get the choice of a view..whilst it wasnt a problem for us, the view we did have wasnt a go...

We booked this Hotel just for one night during our visit to Barcelona . Everything was fine in Hotel, the rooms and all the facilities are new , the personnel is very kind. Perhaps, quite distant from the Metro station ( about 15 minutes by walk from the station Arc de triomphe) and no street- signs for the turists with indication of the direction. In any case, the area seems nice and the pedestrian route is pleasant .
If you stay in this Hotel , don't miss to visit the pastry shop Hoffman, just 5 minutes of walking . Their delicious croissants are delicious!!!

So far so brilliant. I love this little boutique hotel! Rooms are fabulous, brilliantly clean, service helpful & friendly. Amenities are great - brill channels on tv, safe, toiletries, plentiful wardrobe space for city break, fridge. Beds so comfy & lovely duvet. Only thing that isn't perfect - the view & location. 20/5 mins to las ramblas. Pool area cute - would be great in summer - bit cold in feb! If there are any issues I will rewrite another review. Just as good as the distrikt in New York & I loved that!

We stayed here for a week and will definitely be back. The location is excellent with lots of bars and restaurants within a few metres of the hotel. El born is a wonderful area, lots of character and very atmospheric. Staff at the hotel were lovely and service was great. Breakfast was really good although pricy if it wasn't part of a package, it was also served until midday at the weekends. Rooms are really nice but a little small. The bathroom has opaque glass walls which you can,t see through but which let light flood into the bedroom when you put the light on which is a bit awkward in the middle of the night. Rooms at the front have a better outlook than the internal ones which overlook the courtyard and the apartments opposite.

I'd just spent a couple of days at a luxury hotel in Barcelona (paid for by my employer). I then extended my stay by moving to the K&K. OK - so this wasn't as glitzy and glamorous, but I didn't care! It was as pleasant a hotel stay as I've had in years.

Such a nice, friendly hotel! Brand new, sparkling and clean! Wonderful location in the El Borne district, beside the zoo; just ten minutes walk to La Rambla and about the same to the Olympic village on the port. Free wi-fi and use of business facilities (e.g. to print boarding cards) made the whole stay completely effortless. Nice breakfast: plenty of fruit, pastries, cereals and a hot option.

Best of all - the staff. Couldn't have been more helpful giving us tips about what to do and warnings about the weather! I'd definitely look to stay at another K&K.

Room Tip: In the winter, the a/c is switched off. We arrived after an exceptionally warm day, so the room was...

Stayed almost a week...overall very good. Mainly good because of several staff members...Helene at the front desk & the cheerful, efficient breakfast room staff were especially good.

Pros:
1) Clean, newer hotel in good neighborhood near large park, metro stops, restaurants & shopping.
2) Invisible, excellent housekeeping staff...never saw them, but they did a good job.
3) Although it was too cold for the unheated outdoor pool, there's a lovely outdoor terrace & sitting area on the 5th floor. Great place to take coffee or a drink & enjoy the city views.
4) Good breakfast--many hot & cold options.
5) For me, nice to be 10-15 minutes away from the noise of Ramblas. Close to everything without being in the heart of the crowds.
6) Helpful, English speaking staff at front desk. They were able to answer all questions.

Cons:
1) No deadbolt or way to lock your door against staff with a key once inside your room. Of course, the door automatically is locked to the general public, but anyone with a key could easily walk in anytime. This never happened & wasn't a problem. Having read reviews about this, I brought a small, inexpensive door jam which I used at night for peace of mind. See pics...
2) Like many European hotels, you leave your key at the front desk when you leave the hotel. That's fine by me. Think they should ask for identification when you request your key, however, at least until they recognize you. New staff never asked to see ID, anyone could have asked for my room number & gotten my key.

Overall, very well run hotel with great staff. I would stay there again.

The location was perfect, at the top of my favourite district, el born, close to some excellent bars, cafes and restaurants. Few mins to the Picasso museum, 7 min walk to the nearest metro (Arc de Triomphe), 10 mins to La Rambla, 7 mins to Barcolenata and beach area. The hotel was on a quiet street overlooking the park Cuitadella which was beautiful and also made for a very quiet nights sleep. Minimalist hotel, modern and clean, small rooftop pool. We had an executive room on the 2nd floor overlooking the park. It was quite small, but had everything we needed. Small balcony but the door had a safety latch. Excellent soundproofing. Free tea & coffee facilities, a safe, comfy bed and pillows. The extras and the room service menu were expensive. Lovely shower. There was a nice, small bar downstairs, with a courtyard seating area. There was a good choice at breakfast, not the best but good for a city centre hotel. There were a lot of staff on duty in the breakfast room, too many, and they hovered and whisked away every piece of cutlery or plate as soon as you put it down which made me feel rushed. I would rather have a more relaxed breakfast. The desk staff were so friendly and helpful, they had maps and were ready to help with any arrangements. For location alone i would return. No particular 'wow' factor, but had everything required.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher floor facing the park.
