“Great hotel in a perfect location”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

We had the pleasure of staying at the H10 Montcada last week. The hotel is located in the center of Barcelona, surrounded by lovely shops, restaurants and transportation. The hotel was spotless. The view from the rooftop was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff was very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 201 had a small balcony with a lovely view of the city and is handicap accessible.

We stayed here overnight before we started our Mediterranean Cruise with Princess Cruises. We booked this hotel because it was located in the Bari Gothic area. Our travel agent and Princess Cruises had this hotel listed on their recommended list. This hotel is in a safe, and clean area of the city, and is convenient to attractions. We arrived early in the morning and they stored our luggage because our room was not ready yet. The location was right in the middle of a tourist area. It was within walking distance of Las Ramblas, churches, market places, restaurants, and the HO HO tourist buses. After a beautiful day of sight-seeing and food tasting we arrived back to the hotel in the early evening. We entered our room, thoroughly jet lagged to discover our twin beds...It didn't matter..(If it matters to you, request a double or queen when you arrive)..we slept 12 hours before enjoying a nice breakfast. We took another few hours to complete our short visit in Barcelona....If you do this cruise, stay two nights because there is so much to see and do here. The cab ride to the cruise ship pier was inexpensive. The staff was extremely helpful with directions and recommendations. I'd go back in a flash.

Room Tip: Ask for your bed configuration at check-in.

This hotel is located in the centre of Barcelona and is in a fantastic location right in the heart of the city. We visited in early November 2012 and whilst the roof bar was closed due to the time of the year, everything else at the hotel was faultless and as usual at H10 hotels, the main reception was spotless with friendly staff who were able to provide good advice and information of the best places to visit in the city. We were fortunate to have a room at the front overlooking the gothic quarter and at night the view of city was superb.
We were recommended a local restaurant by the the reception and whilst it was away from the main tourist area the quality of the food was great and price was far less than you will pay closer to the centre.
The rooms as with all other H10 hotels we have stayed in were of a high standard a good size and spotless, Breakfast was more than enough to start your day and was typical for a city centre hotel.
This was our second visit to Barcelona and we would certainly stay at this hotel again.

my husband and I have just returned from a fabulous trip to Barcelona along with my sister and brother-in-law, where we enjoyed a very good stay at the H10 Montcada.
The hotel staff were great! Reception were particularly helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our rooms were spotless and the staff we met during breakfast were friendly and efficient. The breakfast itself was superb. The rooftop bar was an added delight, we only wished we had had been able to stay longer so that we could have used it more.
The hotel is just a short stroll from the Gothic Quarter and Port Vell and is in a perfect location for all methods of public transport with connections to all of Barcelona's many attractions.
We will certainly be back to stay again!

Room Tip: Our room was on a lower floor and facing towards the main street it was a bit small and was noisy wi...

The hotel is right in the very center of Barcelona, next to the old town with all the restaurants and shops. All the main tourist attractions are a walking distance away, which is great.
Our room (411) was of decent size, although it was of an unusual "Z" shape instead of the usual square room. Nevertheless, the furnishings in the room were of very good standard and everything was very tidy and clean. We had 2 flat screen TVs (one in the "lobby", one in the bedroom), although we never even turned them on. The bathroom is of very good size.
The breakfast was good, although it was exactly the same every day for 6 days that we've been there (except they give different kinds of fruits).
The terrace at the top gives great views over Barcelona. The terrace bar and hot tub were closed during our stay (we were there at the end of March), but they were going to open them mid April.
The staff at the hotel was great. Everyone was very friendly, always willing to help and explain whatever you need, and everyone spoke very good English.
To conclude: you get a very good 4-star hotel right at the center of Barcelona for a very competitive price. Would definitely recommend it and would come back there again.

Room Tip: Our room (411) was overlooking the backyard, which was not really a good view at all. However, it wa...

Visited Barcelona in feburary this year and stayed in this hotel. It is in a great location in the heart of the old city and within walking distance to all the major sights and las ramblas. The hotel is small but the rooms are quiet big with a nice bathroom en-suite and a big double bed The rooftop of the hotel is a must do, great views a hot tub and outside bar to take in the views pity it was a bit cold to try it out. the staff were very friendly helpful and spoke good english.

Let's face it! There is hardly a good deal at decent money in very center of Paris, Rome, London, Barcelona or other European top cities. Usually all "center" hotels have two things in common: small rooms (justified by the fact that there are historical buildings) and high prices. The difference is made by quality of rooms amenities, of services, or restaurant, spa, etc.

So, coming back to H10 Montcada, we were first given a room at 5th floor (507) which had a window facing a skylight/luminary/an interior open space very small. As I noticed this was the only room with interior window as all the other windows facing this open area were from the hotel corridors. So first tip, watch out not to accept the room ending with 7 on each floor, if you would like to see the street or sky.

We switched the room to 102 and we were right above the entrance to the hotel, 1st floor. Despite what other reviewers says here on the fact that facing the main street you will cannot sleep due to street noise, there wasn't the case. The room is well isolated, a residual street noise is still there but it didn't spoil our sleep. Here I guess that this issue is very sensitive and subjective depending what kind of person you are: some of us sleep without a problem in any condition, some don't. Even on the contrary. So no tip here, but still, the street noise was very, very small.

Both rooms were tiny. This make me believe that the pictures on the site belongs to some apartment and are not applicable for most of the rooms. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms were modern and nice refurbished, which you cannot say about room furniture which is somehow obsolete. Not in a uncomfortable way, but you can see each and there the furniture edges slightly deteriorated or the carpet used.

The breakfast is wonderful. Best mark for this. The front desk services goes for an A-, all the ladies are splendid professionals, the only reason why I am not giving them the highest mark is a fellow employee which during night shifts is not focusing to what you ask, answer to whatever he understands and seems very bored and disturbed by customers. My impression is that his english skills are among the poorest and that's the reason for all its behavior.

I saved the best for the last, the location is splendid. Right near Jaume 1 metro station, right at the cross road between Barceloneta, Ciutat Vella/Rambla/Barri Gotic and 900 m from Placa de Catalunya, seems the perfect place for getting anywhere by foot ant any hour. Or you can use the perfect metro network which is very cheap if you buy a 10 journeys card (9,80 Euro). Otherwise one way can go as much as above 2 Euros.

Final conclusion: I recommend the hotel if you do not spend more than 1 hour during the day and the night sleep in the room. The price is very tradable with the time you save due to its location.

Room Tip: Do not accept rooms ending in 7. They all face an interior small open space.
