Fancy designer stores and touristy restaurants - nothing unique about any of them (except for La Pedrera and Casa Batllo). You can't tell if you are in Chicago, NYC or Barcelona.

Close to Paza Catalunya, there are plenty of good value tapas bars and all the expensive designer shops.

think of 5th avenue, oxford street, champs elyse, milan this is the equivalent of barcalonas fashion corner, but with very artistic buildings in view, nice and open plenty of boutique shops and places to dine and even sit on the benches ans watch the world go by.

We enjoyed our time on Passeig de Gracia which is a busy thoroughfare. As others have noted you need to look beyond the expensive shops and search out the authentic tapas restaurants and bars. The architecture is amazing if you take the time to look as well.

We were not fussed by the expensive named shops; these are two a penny and can be found anywhere.

Very similar to Paris here - lots of nice shops and Gaudi museums - wonderful cafes/food. Would recommend Tapas 24 in this area - great food and ambience.
