We booked this hotel based on location, price and tripadvisor reviews and we weren't disappointed on any count!
Located between the Drassanes and Paral-lel metro stations is was easy to get to from the airport. Easy walk to Rambla Del Raval for bars and restaurants and also the much better known Rambla and Barri Gottic areas. Not far from MareMagnum and port area either. This is a great city to walk around although metro and local buses abound too.
Our initial booking price was very cheap as this is not anywhere near a peak time. We did upgrade to a room (909) with the most fantastic view of the city including Sagrada Familia (Usually €20 but offered to us at €10 - probably as hotel was not full). Rooms don't have tea making facilities but you can get a vending machine coffee in the lobby for €1 if needed - they also have snacks and drinks and a pay-as-you-go internet area.
Breakfast buffet on the ground floor is served between 7 and 10:30 and if bought before travelling was priced at £22 per person per day and locally only €12 p/p/d with a discount for a whole stay booking. Options are quite extensive - they catered for hubby and my very different tastes.
The modern rooms have showers, large flat screen TV's a desk, chair, wardrobe with large safe and comfortable beds. We had extra room due to the upgrade (even room enough for me to perform my daily stretching and core exercise regime which is not possible in many hotels.). Floor to ceiling panoramic windows in this room were complemented by the photomural above the bed (can be seen on official photo's).
Views for the roof are great although I would not recommend using the unheated pool in Jan! There is also a small gym with bikes, cross trainers and a 'home gym' type machine in the basement. Enough to give you a simple total body workout and also room on floor for stretching etc.
If you checkout early and need to leave bags there is a secure room. There are lots of useful leaflets in the lobby, comfortable seating and the ubiquitous 'left books' library. Staff were friendly and given our lack of either Catalan or Castiliano they were also excellent communicators in English and I also heard then conversing with other guests in German.
For snacks, large bottles of water or any other little extra that you may fancy (late night chocolate attack!) there is also a little Carrefour supermarket opposite.
