Eurostars Ramblas

We stayed here for the first time this year after visiting Barcelona many times. We found the hotel excellent, staff very friendly and polite and good size room. Complimentary cake and glass of fruit juice in reception each morning.
It is so convenient for most of Barcelona being at the end near Placa del portal de la pau. Barcolonetta beach and restaurants all close to hand.

Room Tip: We had a room facing The Ramblas and found it quiet unless the balcony door was open.

In their description of the hotel they talk it up, but this is none the less a hotel of no more than 3 stars.
Permeating through the lobby and elevator is a smell of sewage that every so often they spray a deodorizer . The rooms lack 4 star attributes. No coffee maker, lack of sufficient toiletries and old frizzed towels. The room is clean though and the staff courteous.
However, the location is unbeatable , near the lower part of Rambla and a few seconds from the subway exit. As nice as a three star hotel as you can get but for the money this is no 4star .

I stayed here on a short business trip. I read the reviews, which are very mixed, but I found the hotel to be very clean. They were offering a free upgrade to a Superior room, which was up on the 5th floor and facing out onto La Rambla. Even still, it was exceptionally quiet. The location is excellent too.

I'd definitely stay here again

I spent 4 nights in this hotel during a business trip to Barcelona last October. The biggest advantage of the hotel is it's location since it is located in the heart of Ciutat Vella, on the lower side of La Rambla, close to Placa del portal de la Pau with its famous Columbus statue. It has to be stressed out though that this is the noisiest part of Barcelona and the hotel is a no go for people who are easily bothered by noise, especially at night. That being said I had quite a nice time there, the service was very well, the breakfast buffet satisfactory. I would consider coming back without hesitation.

Upon entering our room, my wife & I noticed the smell of sewer. The window had a grate outside full of cigarette butts and a used lady’s underwear sitting on top. Disgusted, we asked to move. Our next room had a view of an air shaft, but it was better than panties. Later on, when I flushed the toilet, all the water came out from the bottom and flooded the bathroom. We called the staff, and they said there was no maintenance on site, so they moved us to one room below (same view). Then we noticed the smell of mildew and trash, covered up with air freshener. We brought this up to the staff, but they said there were no more rooms. So we went to sleep that night with the covers over our heads. The next day, we toured the city but when we came back, we noticed the room smelled like triple the trash and mildew. We contacted the staff, and the lady came into our room and agreed it smelled bad, and came back with an air freshener can to use and said there were still no other rooms. Our concern was the smell could be from the leaking toilet upstairs or something very unsanitary. When we went to bed, both of us started to feel nauseous and got headaches. We checked out the next morning (even though we had 2 more nights paid for through Expedia). We asked if we could get a refund for the 2 unused nights, they said they couldn't do anything & to take the matter up with Expedia. When we contacted Expedia, they contacted the hotel, who refused to refund the 2 unused nights worth $680.

This is a very well placed hotel with extraordinary staff, if you are looking for something quiet, i recommend you look somewhere else, this is a very agitated place, but that also has its pros.
should definetly look into this one.

The hotel is down nearer the Port end of La Ramblas and nearer to Drassanes metro station. I found it relatively easily on foot walking from Passeig de Gracia train station athough could have taken the metro. Good location for accessing metro and/or walking distance to lot of city. I had a good sized bedroom and nice ensuite with a huge shower. My experience was good and the room was clean and bed comfortable. Coffee/tea making facilities would have been welcome though. I was at the back of the hotel (no view apart from onto another building) and this was quiet for 3 of the 4 nights I stayed; my last night was disturbed by noisy people outside in the street below. The hotel staff were polite, helpful, always friendly and smiling. I found the breakfast room without charm and a bit awkward sitting with strangers, no tv or background music; food was ok but not fantastic.

Room Tip: Pros and cons for either front or back from street noise.
