This church is beautiful, with wonderful stained glass. It is very simply adorned. You really feel the history of Catalan struggle sitting in this church, which was burned during the Civil War and conflicts during the Franco regime. A sombre reflective space.

If you have a walk in the neighborhood of this Basilica, do not skip visiting this monument. Very beautiful!

Most tourists come to Barcelona and head to the Sagrada Família (most not miss!) or the Catedral (OK but costs €7). We really enjoyed Santa Maria del Mar because it had a somewhat neighborhood church feel (albeit a grand one) where people came not just to sightsee but to pray and share their sorrows. Beautiful but simple soaring architecture, not the typical gilded ornate look.
Read Ildefonso Falcones’ Cathedral of the Sea before you come and the basilica will have a different meaning to you.

Simply stop of you want to have a moment of peace, whatever your creed. Very simple yet beautiful church. No frills, as a church ofthe people shoul be.
Crowds may make it less peaceful at times, but sit and wait and you ll be rewarded.

I visited this basilica in the morning, it was less crowded at the time the Basilica is situated in the heart of the Roman quarter I join the walking tour and visited this exotic Gothic Cathedral. As you enter inside the cathedral you will wonder the magnification long pillars and the high walls of the interiors, situated very close to the major attractions in Barcelona you can easily spend one hour visiting this Basilica the Facade the of the of the cathedral present perfect example for the Gothic architecture.

Tall soaring columns in the ocean side of Barcelona with rich history . We stumbled on a wedding ceremony while there and the experience made the visit all the better . Nice interesting surrounding neighborhood with great spot for churros down the block .

This visit was an unexpected surprise as to how wonderful it was. The beauty and related history makes this a must stop on everyone's list of places to visit in Barcelona

Good, but not anywhere near the beauty of the Sagrada or Valencia or Seville. Worth seeing if only for the lift on to the room for a spectacular view over Barcelona
