Located to the north of the Parc de la Ciutadella, the Arc is an interesting structure that's worth having a wander along the boulevard that joins the two together. It may not rival similar arcs elsewhere but its worth taking a look at nevertheless as it is quite a sight.

Proudly facing to its rivals in London, Paris, New York, this beautiful arch was built in 1888 for the Universal Exposition, which took place at the Parc de la Ciutadella. The uniqueness of this landmark is its colorful brickwork in Mudéjar style, heavily influenced by the Moorish architecture.
Main architect was no other than the Catalan artist and architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas.

The arch stands 30m tall and is decorated on all sides with stone carvings and ceramic tiles. The front work by Josep Reynés shows the city of Barcelona welcoming visitors. The back side, designed by Josep Llimona, shows a prize-giving ceremony. The frieze on the right, created by Antoni Vilanova, symbolizes industry, trade and agriculture while the frieze on the left, created by Torcuato Tasso, symbolizes trade and the arts. If you are into details and looking for some great shots from Barcelona, definitely visit the Arc de Triomf.

I feel like every major European City will have an Arc de Triomf of some sort, you see it in Paris and Rome for example. The Arc de Triomf is simple, a good background for some good pictures and there are some parks that come off of it. I only swung by to take some pictures, so I didn't go into the park or the zoo that's close by. If you're walking to the Sacred Family church, you might see it on you're way, so you can kill 2 birds with one stone on your way there or back!

Nice to stop and take a few photos. It is right off a metro stop named for the site itself. There are a few notable parks in the area with interesting architectural structures, so it's worth heading here if you're in the area. There are some really great light posts in the park heading toward the arch, it's a very nice scene all together.
