Very nice place, definitely worth going. They give you the so called menu, which means you're basically choosing from a limited set of options. My lunch consisted of: some small starters, soup, fish, bottle of wine, small, but memorizable cracker with cheese, amazing dessert, a cup of cappuccino & some tiny ... tasty something.

It's a bit confusing, this restaurant used to be called Shojiro (wich you still can review on TA) now it's called Somodo.
Somodo has no a la carte service, only fixed menu's, which is great, nothing confusing about that.
We went for the "Menu Mediodia" which costs €18.50 and includes bread with olive oil, a chef's "tapa", a first fixed plate, a second meat or fish, a pre-dessert, a choose between two desserts, wine, water and coffee with a biscuit.
Chef Shojiro introduces the menu at the table, in Spanish of course. If you don't speak any Spanish it shouldn't be a problem, there are only a few choices to be made.
The overall quality of the food is high-end and rather nice-prized. The service is very attentive and friendly, the interior is spot-on.
This restaurant is highly recommended. We made our reservation (on a tuesday) just one hour before, in person, passing the restaurant

Shojiro, owner and xef of restaurant Somodó (formerly known as "Shojiro"), trained under Paul Boucuse. It was not only the celebrated French cook who taught him, over the many years of trade,Shojiro has learned and mastered the art of producing great cuisine. He came to Barcelona many years ago and all this time he has not ceased investigating, exploring, inventing, blending. The result, a clever fusion of the best Catalan recipes combined with exquiste Japanese ones. Shojiro is unasuming - far from the typical arrogant Prima-Dona xef so in vogue nowadays. Prices just right: you can expect amazing quality-creative dishes, in a peaceful (tired of the noise many Spanish restaurants impose on the customer), civilized and quite lovely (with rather modest deco) restaurant. Enjoy!

Didn't know what to expect as I was taken to this little restaurant in Gracia by my partner. Small, unpretentious but somehow stylish. The service was "humble" but very efficient and very friendly. The food was just amazing... exquisite combination of Catalan and Japanese combining delicate presentation and strong flavors and ingredients. You can tell the chef/owner is passioned about his business. There is only a set menu (with a choice of meet or fish and a glass of cava included) which is excellent. Maybe a bit expensive but well worthy. Don't mind paying when what you get is really good!
