Good location but small room with tiny bathroom.
No door to bathroom and noisy mincer toilet!!
Rosa was very concerned about noise reports from other reviews so was always "sshh-sshh-sshh-ing"
After 4 nights she was sshh-sshh-ing me to tears.
Not relaxing and we would never stay there again.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at San Remo for 9 nights and were extremly pleased with the stay. The hostal is located in the middle of Barcelona and it's walking distance to pretty much everything. The rooms are small and cosy, we had a room with balcony. The doors to the balcony are thick and you don't here much noise from the street (which also is a quite silent street during the night). There's also a TV with a lot of channels, an air conditioner and a small bathroom with shower. The toilet is in the hallway, so you have to share it with the other guests. At first, I thought this would be a problem but it wasn't. There are only 7 or 8 rooms at the hostal so there aren't so many people living there at the same time. I never had to wait for my turn, the toilet was always available. The owner of the hostal is a sweet lady with a cute dog. She doesn't speek so much English, but with gestures we understood what she ment perfectly. There is no breakfast of course since it's a hostal, but there is some coffe served in the lobby (where the computer with free internet is located as well). For 55 euros/night, I would highly recommend this hostal for anyone!

Hostal San Remo is a small basic pensione located on edge of the Old City and about 5 minutes walk away from La Rambla. The proprietor is very welcoming and amenable, and kindly stayed up late on the night that I arrived in order to let me in after my flight was delayed. My scrupulously clean room had its own toilet and shower facilities, television, and air conditioning. Excellent location and great value for money.

It's a really nice and cosy hotel. I even can't say "hostel", it's just too tiny, too clean and the owner (Rosa, we love you!) is too caring and attentive to her guests. And it's situated right in the centre, so you can walk almost anywhere without any problem (i can tell you, i travelled with my granny and it was no problem for her too). And did i mention Minnie? It's a little Rosa's dog (or sheep hmm) that really likes cheese :) I hope i'll come again!

I stayed with my husband at the Hostal San Remo for 7 nights during our Christmas holidays and we were very satisfied!! First of all, the location of the hostal is very central, only 5 minutes from Placa Catalunya, which is the center in Barcelona and where the aerobus (the shuttle-bus from the airport) stops. Everything worth seeing in the center of this city is in walking range and, if you want, you have easy access to any means of public transport. Also, our land-lady, Seniora Rosa, although lacks the knowledge of English, is very discreet and kind, not to mention that she keeps everything spotlessly clean!!! The hostal is very quiet, we even whispered to each other!! Our room (number 7) might have seemed a little small, but we didn't change, even though Seniora Rosa offered us to move to another room with a larger bed. Generally speaking, I would stay in this hostal again without a second thought!! Thank you, Seniora Rosa and we loved Minnie!!!

There are 8 rooms at Hostal San Remo. I think the details are ,,,,

Room NO.1-4 : Twin bed room with private bathroom and balcony (48 euro per night)

Room NO.5-7: Single room with private bathroom and without balcony (38 euro per night)

* but i am not sure about room 6 and 7.

** breakfast is not included.

and there is one super teeny room, which is called "pequena", 25 euro per night with shared bathroom. Room "pequena" is super small with a small window. It is right next to the entrance, so it might bother you if you are a light sleeper. Besides, very old elevator is just in front of the room beyond thin wall. However, the bathroom you are going to have to share is big enough and very clean. As other rooms have attached bathrooms respectively, the person you have to share the bathroom with would be the owner of San Remo only. It is really good deal, i think.

I stayed 3 types of room here, after all. If you can afford to pay a bit more, I recommend you to book double rooms, I enjoyed the balcony and the view from there. Single room is not bad, but after I spent several nights in double room, I felt that the single room was too small with limited sunshine.

The closest METRO station is Urquinaona. There are many exits. The closest exit is "Bruc". From this exit, it is only 30 seconds to get to hostal san remo.

This wasn't our first choice, but at the end we were very happy that we choose this little hostal for our budget stay in Barcelona. You have to contact the hostal directly (you can do it through their web site) but the reservation is made without any hustle. Located just 5 minutes walk from Plaza Cataluna in an old building (transformed large flat like many out there), it is in great and well connected location. Its central location allows you to go everywhere by foot (we did that) which can be a great experience of discovering some less known, but nevertheless very charming and beautiful parts of Barcelona. Not to mention all sorts of nice cafes and restaurants. We are both vegetarians and we find couple of nice places not in the guidebooks plus interest selections in some regular restaurants as well. So you can enjoy a great food in Barcelona even if you are vegetarian. The rooms in the hostal are pretty basic, but sufficient and very clean. Bathroom is very small but also very clean, and that was the most important thing for us. Our room had a charming little balcony to the street, which was nice, and luckily there were not too much noise. There is also iMac in the lobby with free internet. The hostess of the place doesn't speak much English, but is extremely friendly and helpful so the communication is easy if both parties are willing. But the biggest attraction of the hostel is the adorable little dog Minnie. She just gives the place it special charm. If you are not really too keen on animals, don't worry - she never barks too late or too early, and she won't impose - Minnie will come for inspection of your room only upon your invitation :) This place just wouldn't be the same without her presence. And for our next visit in Barcelona this hostal will be definitely be our first choice.
