“Mexican authenticity with a Mediterranean twist”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

We first came to this restaurant for lunch. This was three courses, a drink and coffee for 12 euros. It was delicious and ample. What was so memorable was the Panaccotta with a rich and spicy sauce made from Hibiscus flowers. In addition to the excellent food was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. We decided then to book for dinner on the Saturday. We were told there would also be live music.
I have to say the meal was outstanding. We opted for a taster of all their dishes that came in Canapé form. I cannot single one dish out as the flavours were a fantastic fusion of Mexican with Mediterranean touches. The Raw fish toast with Tapenade was particularly delicious as was the Tuna Carpaccio with Lemon, Radish and Coriander dressing. For meat lovers the Beef Steak and green sauce is so tender and rich in flavour.
We opted to have cocktails, Mojitos, Margaritas and Capirinas. All were expertly made and ice was kept to a minimum meaning that you had much more of a drink. At six euros each, these were very good value.
The music added a real touch of authenticity to the evening where customers and staff danced together.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. It is an absolute must if you are visiting Barcelona. Also, if you a lover of Mexican art and design, then this is absolutely the place for you. Thank you Los Azulejos for a fabulous evening.

“Nice Mexican restaurant”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

I went to this restaurant with some mexican friends. I loved the food, they thought it was finally food that tasted almost equal to the one they have in Mexico. We also had the pleasure to have some Mariachis singing!
Only thing: prices are a bit expensive.

“Good food but noisy when footy is one!”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

Nearly walked out after 1st drink - footy was on so load we couldn't hear ourselves speaking. However, manager turned it down - too low - so I suggested he increased it slightly for the other customers. Food (I had veal ribs) was very good and reasobly priced.

“Been here twice, I will go again”
Reviewed April 21, 2012

I was here once in March and now again in April. The first time we had a magician come at our table doing some magic stuff -t'was entertaining. The manager, Christian, came by our table and gave us lots of helpful tips about renting a place in Barcelona (we moved here) and also recommended other bars&clubs to go. Very nice.

The food was good, especially the cheese they put on the nachos is fantastic. The second time around we ordered the Don Porfirio steak, the duck and the beef steak with gratin rice. All amazing. One thing only: the service was slow-ish. And the prices are a tad on the high end.

I do love the atmosphere though, and the bathrooms are ultra clean. I dig the Dyson hand dryer :))

“Cocktails to die for...”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

We visited here by chance when we were in Barcelona in December. We found it quite by accident but were very gald we did. The first evening we just had cocktails as we had already eaten elsewhere, but fancied a few drinks before we turned in. You can sit at the bar and watch them being made and ask anything that you like about the making and you will be told how to do it properly. On the second evening we went their for drinks before we went out, but actually spend the night drinking in there! On the third night we did eat in there as well as drink!!
The food is not your usual Mexican, but all I can say is give it a go, because the tastes were amazing and we were glad that we did, although the menu can look a little strange and daunting. While we were there at least 3 couples came in, sat down and went out again, but we would say take a chance and give them a try.
The staff were brilliant and so helpful and nice, this is a tucked away little place that can only go from strength to strength.
PS Upstairs there is a tequilla musem, it was not advertised when we were there but it may be now, it is truly worth seeing as you would never guess there are so many.
