“Not a great value for the money.”

This hotel wasn't cheap. The location was great and the lobby and public rooms were quite nice for a small hotel. Our room was clean with a decently sized bathroom. It was in the rear of the hotel and, while it didn't have any view, it was quiet. However the decor and furnishings were something you might find in a low-budget motel in the States. What really bugged us was the nickel and dining for additional services: you had to pay a daily fee to use the in-room safe, for wi-fi, etc.. They even wanted a deposit before they issued you a TV remote! I've stayed in some cheap and seedy hotels in my time and, together with a staff that seemed particularly uninterested and a bit hostile, the only thing missing was a plexiglass barrier between the front desk and the lobby to have a customer experience comparable to the Motel 6 in Fayetteville North Carolina. We stayed at comparably priced hotels in Seville and Madrid that were at least three stars better than this one.

Finishing our cruise in Barcelona we opted for 2 nights at the Nouvel Hotel. The hotel was perfect for us .Its all about location when on vacation and this is perfectly located.Very short walks to the metro ,hop on hop off buses as well as many good restaurants and the Rambla .
The hotel was tucked away in a quiet street easy to get to by taxi when we arrived.15 euros from the cruise ship terminal.
The hotel was in beautifull condition with the marble and wood finishes .The front desk staff were gracious and more than accomodating ,always had a smile for us .We arrived at 7:30 in the morning and they locked our luggage away till midafternoon when we got our rooms. They were very helpfull with all our concerns like restaurants ,buses and so on .Our room seemed recently renovated and was perfect ,most importantly clean.
We would recomend this hotel to anyone and will one day return.

The Nouvel is a great hotel situated just around the corner from La Ramblas a few minutes walk from Placa Catalunia, the main square. Our room was spacious with a balcony overlooking what looked like residential apartments, The buffet breakfast was quite good and our stay would have been perfect except for a few minor things that could have been rectified with little or no cost to the hotel. We had been travelling for 2 weeks from Istanbul, Estepona,Granada and Seville and the Nouvel was the most expensive we stayed in. I mention the price because all the other hotels we stayed at offered FREE WiFi, Free safe and no hassels with the TV remote. It is not a big deal but why charge 2 Euros per hour for WiFi, 1.50 Euros per day to use the safe in our room and a 20 Euro deposit for the TV remote? We were also prohibited from taking our coffee up to our room to have it on our balcony. Notwithstanding it is a good hotel in an excellent location. It would have been perfect if the staff were not so business like and the minor things were sorted out.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back over looking the residential block. Not a great view but no noise at all

We found this traditional quiet little Spanish Hotel perfect for our needs. The staff were friendly and very helpful ,with good suggestions to enhance our stay. The location was excellent ,in a quiet side road but close to the Rambla , Placa Catalunya, bus stops and metro. The room was a good size with ensuite bathroom and a powerful shower. Yes the floor was marble ,but then it does get very hot in Barcelona. We also enjoyed chatting to fellow guests in the comfortable lounge area.
We did not eat in the hotel, but the dining area always seemed busy.
Would highly recommend this hotel for those seeking a quiet base for exploring the wonders of Barcelona!

We were booked into this hotle on the advice of our travel agent after our cruise.
NEVER AGAIN! We had pracically no sleep in the two nights we stayed, so it was not a quiet hotel. The beds felt as if they were made of marble as did the pillows, and the acoustics well need i say more? Not an enjoyable end to was was a perfect fortnight.

Perfectly situated just off La Rambla but in a very quiet location, this looks and feels like a traditional Spanish hotel. The room was surprising. it was lovely - very modern and with a big bathroom. We also had the advantage of a private outdoor area. Would definitely use it again and recommend it to friends.

This is not a very large hotel, but it has plenty of charm. It has an old-fashined elevator, rooms with pretty balconies overlooking Santa Ana street, and best of all half a block from Las Ramblas. We booked it on our return from our cruise. The staff was very helpful and kept our luggage until we left for the airport so we could take our last stroll thru the streets.
