“Worst hotel experience ever”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Stayed here with my partner in September. Staff were incredibly rude on arrival, we were given a twin instead of a double, there was a brick wall directly outside the window, and the room was dirty and uncomfortable. Great location yes, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Please stay elsewhere!

We stayed in this hotel for three nights after being on a cruise that ended in Barcelona. The location of the hotel is fantastic. It's right next to Espanya Metro/Train station which makes getting around the city a breeze. There are also a large number of restaurants and cafes around the area and a large shopping mall right next door. We arrived early in the morning and we left our bags with reception so we could go out exploring. When it came time to check-in we found the staff at reception a bit hollow and gruff. They essentially barked orders at us for our credit card and our passport, so that wasn't a great start The room itself is extremely basic. Quite literally all you get in the room is a bed, a small desk and a TV. Our first night in the hotel was fine, albeit a bit noisy both from the hotel hallway and the street. Our room was next to the lift, so that was slightly annoying, however the bathroom provided a reasonable buffer to that. Our troubles started on our second night. When we were in Barcelona, it was quite a warm few days in the high 20's, so we used our airconditioner to keep us cool overnight. On our second night we realised our aircon had stopped working and was just blowing recirculated air through our room rather than actually cooling it. After a fairly sleepless night, my wife went and spoke to the gentleman (the same one who was quite gruff when we checked in) at reception about the issue and he was very swift to distance himself from the issue. He told her that "it takes some time to kick in" even though we told him we'd had it running ALL NIGHT and that it hadn't done any sort of cooling. In the end he essentially lied to us and said he would have someone look at it that day. When we arrived back in the evening, of course the aircon hadn't been looked at and the same issue was occuring. By this point we were resigned to the fact that we were in for another sleepless night due to the fact the same gentleman was on reception, so we didn't waste our time. To top it off, there was a soccer match in Barcelona that night, so the hotel was quite full of fans from out of town, so around 2am a lot of people staying on our floor returned from their night out on the sauce. Normally it would be none of my concern, apart from the fact we could hear literally everything they were saying as if they were right next to our bed. A product of having tiled floors throughout the hotel I'm guessing. All in all, a very disappointing stay at this hotel. I suggest management give their staff some training on basic customer service and even a little bit of empathy.

Room Tip: One away from the lift and as far down the hallway as possible.

Good location very close to the main centre of barcelona. The arena has some good shops with nice views and tapa tapa just outside the arena is good for a beer and a good view . Staff didnt really talk much and you had to force them to talk. They also didnt open the wee bar that they have . But overall for the price and the location its well worth the money.

Good location, quiet area and close to metro. Staff were friendly and helpful.however the hotel was not that great. The lack of carpets in the rooms and corridors meant you could hear every chair being moved above and below. There were no irons available to borrow. The bathroom flooded after a shower. The pool was only open from 10 am till 7pm so couldn't have a swim before or after work. The hotel was clean and the bed was comfy!

Good location. Our room was a little small. Stuff was not so friendly. We really forced them to speak to us. Stayed there 8 days and everything was good enough. Pool was closed in the beginning of july. I dont have too much to say. Good enough for its price

Very good hotel for all the travelers that wish to explore the city most of the day. The staff are happy to assist, the rooms are clean but small and the location near the Espania squer is great. Good value for the money!
