Hotel Exe AB Viladomat

We had booked a different hotel but as we got there they had no recollection of our booking. After lengthy conversations with Travel Republic, they moved us to AB Villadomat.

The hotel was very nice. Room and bathroom were spacious. Breakfast was okay (cornflakes were like cardboard unfortunately), with a good selection of food and fresh baguettes. Maldo who worked at the bar was lovely, he was there in the morning and then late at night still smiling. The only cons were that it would be nice to have tea and coffee facilities in the room.

The hotel is about 10-15 minute’s walk to the nearest metro station or train station. Might feel like a lot, but we found it just about tolerable (in relation to where we should have been staying), as you get the opportunity to see a lot more of Barcelona outside the busy tourist spots. We have done lots of walking anyway so this felt like nothing.

We spent the day on the bus Turistic which was really good. Definitely recommend going to Park Guell and Tibidabo, both weren’t too busy so you could have a look around in a nice relaxing atmosphere. We had a few meals on La Rambla which weren’t the best, would definitely recommend eating in Gothic area or side streets off La Rambla. La Fonda was great, we had a really good meal and the bill was very reasonable – worth checking out, and we wished we had found it earlier in our stay!

Similar to some other people, we found two of the three people alternating at the front desk in the wrong profession-or more likely having the European disease of "you can't fire me for bad work.''
Unless you can get an inside unit, even on the top floor, the hotel is very noisy, especially if you like to sleep with your window open.
The room was relatively clean. Phone did not work. Sliding closet door would not slide without a lot of effort (reported it with no repair done), so when it came off the track after a few days I propped it against the wall, where it still was when we left after several days.
We like to walk, so we did not find the distance to the center problematic. We did not use any of the food service at the hotel so I cannot comment on the food, but nearby (ten minute walk) there are some excellent restaurants, and bakeries for your breakfast and lunch.
Room prices are reasonable, so you would say, you get what you pay for!

I have stayed here 2x in the past 10 years, and both times they have been wonderful experiences. I love the breakfast served in the hotel, it mixes both traditional Spanish dishes with traditional American Breakfast options as well. The internet service was the most reliable that I had while traveling in Europe. At check in each person in my group was given their own access code and used it for the duration of our stay. The only thing i would say is lacking is the hotel's proximity to a Metro stop, its a good 8 blocks away (and they aren't short blocks either!)

Lovely big room with a great view of city streets from huge window. Comfortable and clean and and a short walk to Sants station (about 10 mins). Not bursting with character but a very good value option in a safe area. Would have liked to have been able to book inclusive breakfast but that option wasn't available so found a friendly local bar.
Would stay again.

I stayed in this hotel in April 2013. Location is reasonable, though 15 minute walk to the nearest metro. Rooms are good/clean/modern.

However, internet connection is very poor and goes on and off every 15 minutes. The staff at reception do not pick up the phone. When you visit the reception, there is no one visible. Normally they are hiding inside the cabin. there is no bell to call.

Would be a good place if they can find solutions to above

Its my third time staying in Barcelona. I have to say that this hotel was the best hotel that I stayed in by far. The hotel is very clean and the staff were very helpful. The location is not ideal but the taxis were cheap and the walk is not bad.

Based on my experience of this hotel I would stay here again.

The hotel is in an excellent being located a 5-10 minute walk from Sants rail and metro station(from Sants Railway you can get a train to/from the airport approx 20 minute journey, from the Sants metro you can connect on a number of lines to the main tourist sites in a few stops).

The hotel is clean and the rooms spacious and comfortable and staff were helpful.

The area around the hotel is fine, there are small bars and restaurants which are reasonably priced and a few small shops and supermarket. The local area is safe we walked back to the hotel from the Camp Nou at 1am without problem
