“So So Hotel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

The room was very spartan even by European standards. It included 3 twin beds, a TV, a non-working fridge and a
non-working phone. The AC was controlled by the front desk and when we informed the front desk that it was warmer in the room then outside they did nothing. After sleeping the night with the window open we mentioned again in the morning and the temp was changed resulting in my daughter having to sleep with a jacket on for 3 days. It was either too hot or too cold. Anytime the shower was used it resulted in the bathroom floor and counter being soaked because there was no shower curtain. Returned to room late one afternoon and beds not made or no new towels. Went to front desk and was told we had to ask for room to be serviced. Based on the photos on their hotel website it was obvious this room was not updated. They should also do something about the beggars outside the hotel.

On a positive note, breakfast buffet was very good and more choices then expected. Great location to Las Ramblas as well as other sites.

I would find another property in the future.

Very central hotel which is ideal for a weekend city break. Short walk from Las Ramblas and Placa de Catalunya. Lovely rooftop pool. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I would have would be the very thin walls. I had to bang on the wall as there was a businessman in the next room making a very loud 3 a.m conference call. Apart from that very, nice comfortable hotel. Lovely beds, handy safe and fridge !

Although we got a room without any view, just a blind wall, we had a nice stay in this hotel. Lucky there was airconditioning as no fresh air could come in to the room. Good breakfast until 12.00. Nice small pool at the rooftop. We rented bikes for 4 days, this is really one of the best ways to discover Barcelona. We could store the bikes in the storrage next to the hotel, the emergency exit. Very good service.

We stayed here for 3 nights(6th-8th June) good price for room wifi and breakfast only 315 euros - breakfast available until 12 so great if you had a late night out and rooms to a good standard, spacious and with gorgeous showers (jets etc) roof top pool also lovely and a nice place to chill and all only 2 mins from las rambles - will def stay here again ! Also liked that a fridge was provided in the room so you could get your own drinks to keep cool without paying extortionate mini bar prices and you could take your own to roof pool- I recommend !

Overall very pleased with the Hotel lleo.

Room

I booked a single and ended up with a very reasonably sized room with a double bed. Had what appeared to be a wood panel floor and relatively think walls which meant minimal noice from other guests.

TV was fairly large with plenty of channels to choose from.

Wifi worked well and password was provided on a card in the room.

Bathroom

Bathroom was also very reasonably sizes with a large mirror, bath and shower which did not run cold was marble tiled apart from the ceiling).

In terms of downsides:

- Room has a window but it overlooks walls on all sides - once stepped out of the hotel to light rain having no idea from the very limited view. Although on the plus side there is also no road noise which could be an issue with other rooms.

First day I went into the cafe for food however there was a bit of a language barrier with the staff on duty at the time. From times printed on the menu it would appear food is meant to be served from 7am to 11pm. Subsequent meals - breakfast and dinner were fine with English speaking staff available. There was a large choice on the breakfast buffet including cereals, eggs, bacon, potatoes, rice, bread etc

When I first checked in I specifically asked about getting back in late at night and was not informed of and problems. However first night I arrived back around 12-1 and the automatic door seemed to have been placed on manual control by the front desk. I stood there expecting to be buzzed in and the person on the front desk appeared to give me a hand gesture for "no" through the door. I walked away assuming I had the wrong address or there was another open door somewhere but after seeing no other doors and confirming I had the correct address I went back to the door and again stood there. This time the front desk staff member decide he would buzz open the door. I did however find his initial behaviour rather rude and unnecessary when I was a guest staying in the hotel (I was not behaving any way that I can see to trigger this - I was not e.g. drunk / do not drink, although even if I was I would have still expected to be let in).

Air conditioning seems to be set at a fixed temperature and could not be turned up or down. However it could be turned on/off.

Not a negative but something that I found a little surprising was the amount of CCTV cameras all over the hotel. This included multiple cameras in the corridors, and the restaurant which did not seem to be just for show but rather installed for a purpose. Gave me the impression that management did not trust someone - either the hotel staff or the guests but I never noticed any issues.

We stayed here as group of six , Booked to here before cruise from Barcelona port ,They reception staff are very helpful , they arranged a tour of Nou Camp Stadium for us , But when we arrived at the ground as there was a game that evening there where no tours that day .
The hotel gave us a full refund and where very apologetic

The pool area is great nice litle pool on the roof and the area is a Sun trap even got sun burned !!

Breakfast has a good selection with both Continental and English type selection .

Location is very central and can be walked to from the Aerobus stop .

What i did like with this hotel was i booked at least a year in adavance and there communication was excellent gave us advise on transport and trips

This is a great Hotel and would recomend highly

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts
